Lolaman, what do you think of the handling in GTR2, compared with GTR1?

Obviously the low speed grip issue was a problem in GTR1 but overall I found the rest of the handling to be more on edge and sensitive than GTR2. GTR2 feels like it has more grip and the tyres have a more forgiving profile. Of course, it may be because of a lousy setup - I'm having problems creating good setups for GTR2 - haven't been able to get the fronts working properly (tyres always 10 degrees less than what they should be), so lots of understeer.

Have you tried the physics tweak? Where can it be found?

How much better is PGR3 than PGR1 and PGR2? i.e. when it comes to the cars available, cities, sound, handling, etc? The car lineup in PGR2 was enormous and pretty hard to beat. Overall, I found the environments and atmosphere of the first game to be better. I spent most of PGR2 at the 'Ring once I unlocked it.

I don't play them anymore though since I started playing GP4 in 2004, GTR in 2005 and GTR2 in 2006 (which now has the 'Ring too).

Cities and cars available PGR2 is best. The problem with PGR3 is that they had to come out with it for the Xbox 360 premiere and it looks rushed. What is there is great, meaning the 4 cities and the cars are fantastic and best of all they finally gave us an in car perspective (without that something major is missing for me).
London looks fantastic and the Ring is even better. But I don't give a hoot about Tokyo and NY is really just driving back forth over the lower Manhatten bridges. Not much excitement there.

However with added graphics power of the 360 I'd say it just edges out PGR2 in overall fun.

Now I'm really looking forward to Forza 2 for the XBox 360. They had now plenty of time and I'm sure it'll show.

PS: You mention a cool movie. I made once a split screen comparison flick between me driving a M3 GT and Stuck around the ring. Did the same again with a Porsche 956 against Bell. It's really fun to compare the shots on the split screen and you realize how darn well PGR2 and GT4 are replicating the Ring and the cars.

I just got a PS3 on eBay for a pretty reasonable price that I couldn't pass up. I also have the Japanese version of F1 '06 Championship edition for PS3 being delivered to my door on the December 23rd. It is 85% English, so I don't have to rush to learn Japanese. If anyone is wondering where they can pre-order the Japanese version the game(come out on December 21st), I pre-ordered at yesasia.com. Good luck to everybody!

Very interesting. Pls keep us posted. If this works the PS3 really no longer uses country codes, which would be nice.

I take it there are no steering wheels out there yet for PS3?

The game are not region locked. I asked about the stearing wheels at Best Buy today. None are out yet and no other USB stearing wheels will work. I guess we just have to wait.

Well my off season fix had traditionally been a bunch of racing videos and a fair amount of Gran Turismo 4. But a new computer purchase meant that I was able to get some better games for that.

I had EAs F1 2000 and 2002 which I still like although they are a bit arcadey. I just bought GT2 which came with GT Legends and I love those.

Are there downloads for GT2? Can someone point me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

I have played it and it was pretty cool, the graphics are pretty good and the cars are fun to drive.

The demo has been out since launch day. I am addicted to it. I play that demo more than I play any other game. This game should be great...

Just got my copy from Japan via YESASIA.COM
    I paid <$50 including Shipping.
The game is awesome. The commentary is in Japanese but the exchange between the team and teh engineer is in English.
If anyone has a PS3 get this game now!

Sounds pretty cool, but still not enough to make me save up and spend over 700usd to get started with a PS3 and game.

They say the game is realistic but in some of the screenshots they have Scott Speed leading the race. How realistic is that? I think I need to "borrow" somebodies PS3 when the full version comes out.

I bet you can set the drivers/cars strength to either realistic, random or equal. In the last two cases it is possible that Speed leads. All depends on the settings.
