Ok pervs, I’m of course referring to my gear shift knob.

I’ve been jealous recently of all my F1 brethren with their cool CF paddles and what-not and all I had was this dingy, worn out looking gear shift knob.

Started to wonder if the chrome polish I recently bought for my Tubi (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=137585562#post137585562) would bring some life back into it. Did some quick searches and low & behold others found this to be true. Took the knob off, spun it snuggly onto a bolt of the same thread pattern, then tossed it into the vice. A quick 5 minute polish and the thing looks good as new!

Yeah sure, it will probably start to dull again soon, but this was an easy “fix” and just wanted to share the stoke! I’m sure the car now also gets better gas mileage, has more horsepower, and attracts more blondes! YMMV sucker.

Nope, the opposite is true. Oddly enough it's not due to a LACK of driving, it's due to all the driving I've recently done! With all the exposure to the oils in my hand, the thing dulled pretty darn fast.
But it aint going to stop me from driving it.... it can be dull all it wants, it's still going to get it's excercise. :)

You know, I'm really am not sure. Pretty sure it's the stock knob, so.... anybody?
I don't think it's SS though. If it were, then it wouldn't be so apt to dull and tarnish, right?

    But I really don't know.

Was going to, but Daniel was out of fuzzy dice and the chain-link steering wheel to complete the look.

Sounds like you did it the hard way. As long as you had it mounted to a bolt, I would have stuck that in a drill press chuck, & then given it a good hand rub job :).
