Hi Doc. If it's the Schwartz at Manchester Rd in STL(very close to Reid Vann), I know they deal a lot with used Jags, MBs, & RR/Bentley's. Don't know that they do Ferrari's though. You may have already planned everything and I hope everything works out but in case not (I sincerely hope not), I recommend the ff: Brentwood Volvo (ex-Ferrari dealer in STL; along Manchester and a few miles from R. Vann) has a Ferrari mechanic who may still do PPI. Contact Jeff Homer at 1-800-844-9502 and ask for details. He has worked on my car before. Bentley/Maserati of St. Louis is another place to consider. I was surprised to see they service quite a lot of Fcars (saw an F40, 512BBi, etc on a very recent trip); they have a Ferrari mechanic who's servicing my 328 at this writing. Contact Kevin Mount at 1-636-449-0000. Good luck. Ron
Congrats again Clifford. It is a gorgeous car & I am as happy as I could be for someone I don't even know! I only wish I lived closer to see it in real life. Look forward to seeing some pics.
Clifford - don't worry about your expectations, if you have a beating heart in your chest, you will not be disappointed. I was only running on about 8 cylinders by the time I got my car home (D.C. from Philly - a new coil for that bank fixed it), but nothing could wipe the smile off my face for days! Congratulations
Update: Spoke with Fred Schwartz, will get the PPI Monday, incl. compression test. FedExed Cashier's Check deposit this AM. My stomach is in a knot...
Just got the engine and tool pics. The valve cover needs new crinkle paint. Does anyone know how (in)complete this tool roll is? How long has he owned the car? Is it a St. Louis car? I believe I looked at this car MANY years ago. Lt. blue with red. It looks very, nice congrats. Chuck
He has had it about 4 years, in his wifes name with IL plates, maybe in Chicago, I can't remember exactly what he said about that. Maybe the same one you saw.
its great to see yet another fchatter achieve the dream, congrats , its a stunning car in a great color! michael
Congrats looks like a beauty. If the car was in Chicago have someone knowlegeable check for rust, 8 years ago I bought a 68 Vette Convert from there and it had major rust issues I was unaware of, mechanical issues can be fixed and are expected rust is a different story.
Check out the 330 Register (not Registry); I think you can get the link on Tom Yang's board. It includes the 2 seat 330 models and may have a link to a downloadable original parts book, which would show the toolroll, or other info that would help. I've drooled over your car on ebay...it wouldn't be hard to push the button on that one. Assuming your PPI turns out well...very fair price. Muchos congratulations!
PS: Going on my 330 2+2 parts manual, it looks like the major items you're missing are: 4 original screwdrivers, hub puller, sparkplug wrench, grease gun, and lead hammer (not much left of the one shown). I don't know enough to tell if the wrenches are original. Also missing are the carb tool and fan belt, and a couple of bits that I can't identify or read the Italian for. As far as the jack bag is concerned, I don't know what your car is supposed to have, but whats there looks like it's mostly in good condition. The bags themselves look to be in good condition. GTC experts, please share your knowledge.
I encourage tool kit enthusiasts not look in the ferrari parts manuals or owner's manuals for tool kit guidence. It is very misleading, frequently. Tom Shaughnessy Ferrari Tool kit specialist
Just curious how the PPI went. I looked at a lt. blue with red back in the late 80's, I guess it could be the same car, who knows. Chuck
