    I toured the maserati factory on tuesday. The "old" coupe prototype was behind the factory. it is no longer being developed as a maserati as it to "ferrari" (read expensive). the car is the swb qp looking car with the fake door. this is the same car that has been rumored to be the new dino - that isn't happening either. for now the car is being "abandoned". the new qp will have the same body style and an automatic transmission. the displacement will be upped to 4.7 liters. the car was away from the factory and at a well known ferrari/maserati shop being painted. during this time, i guess prying eyes figured out the new setup.

    after watching schumacher lap fiorano in the new 248 several times, i was amazed at how similar the v8 sounded to the v10. i couldn't tell any noticible difference but the car was very quick and seemed to handle well. we moved on to look around the factory and found a dark grey 599 gtb. the car is unbelievable in person. it looks nothing like the corvette - even though photos lead you to believe otherwise. the rear is far more sloped than i thought. i makes the car looks far bmaybe etter than the you would expect. the side scopes aren't as pronounced as the photos make them look, the dark grey color helped disquise them. i will post photos of all the above when i return home on thursday.

    Thanks for the great photo of the 599 GTB, boy it looks much better in that shot. Interesting prototype of the Maser as well. Great writeup.

    Those are some good pictures :) I still dont really like the 599. But ill really make my judgement when I see one in person.

    holy ****!...that black 600 looks nice!....it has alot of definition to it. The single round lights hasn't grown on me...yet.

    i have many more photos of the mc12 garage, i will need to resize them before posting them. these are undelivered customers cars. they have been sitting or some time. they are covered in dust and have cat footprints all over them.

    The prototype is def. the SWB QP/New coupe/spyder/dino mule. Why do you say the "Dino" is not happening?

    all of the mc12's are sold cars - waiting for delivery. the maserati tour guide stated that ferrari had stopped testing the mule and hence it was sitting outside the maserati factory . the "dino" may still surface, but this mule isn't what is to come.

    Jim, what time frame are you thinking for a new "Dino"? Also I read somewhere that the new Coupe/Spyder was back on again.

    Please notify the Concors Judges that unless cars have cat prints and dust points should be taken off.

    It's called the 599 GTB - there's no such thing as a "600"... :)


    W.S. those picture are great - I can't believe how good the 599 GTB looks in Silverstone - I can only imagine how unbelievable it looks in black... Now if I can only convince Frefan to get his with all-black wheels...

    FWIW, I read an interview recently with Amadeo Felisa and he categorically stated that a Ferrari Dino is not going to happen. It's not consistent with the brand and the direction they are trying to go.

    Maybe because of the cat prints, I know that I want to neuter my cat a second time when he walks on my cars, little bastard.

    Why ferrari's official photos are always ugly..
    I mean that on all official pictures, new models appear to be not as nice than they are in reality ...
