I ran over a bunny in rural St. Catharines, Ontario. No, I couldn't avoid it. Yes, I feel really bad. Goodnight.
**** happens, dude... Don't worry about it... It could be worse - you could've hit a little kid...! Or some little kid's puppy or kitten...! These things happen... Wildlife ventures out toward the road and fate takes over... Don't sweat it... i Sentra-fied a deer once... There was bone fragments and deer hair and deer blood all in my broken headlight...
OMG, When I saw the one where the bunny kicks the alien in the nuts, I damn near peed myself that was soooo funny
I don't have that problem. The 308 is so darn slow that the bunnies all have time to get out of the way. I'm hoping direct coil ignition will solve the problem
HA! Hitting chipmunks with my 308 is a real treat! If I'm driving fast and nail one, with the car so low, I can usually look in my rear-view to see the little bugger doing a few 360's in the air. I hit a possum a couple of weeks ago and that was gross. I could hear it being dragged near the front of the car for about a half a mile! I dread the day I hit a deer in the 308 though.
In the car this morning I heard a radio show that reminded me of this thread... A guy was talking about how he was driving a delivery box truck with the company name on the side... a cat ran out in front of him, he had no time to react. He looked in his mirror and saw the cat had been completely smushed from the torso to the tail... he saw it writhing and flailing in agony so he put the truck in reverse, thinking it only humane to put the poor cat out of it's misery. When he got back to work, his boss called him into the office to make him explain why he had run over a cat, not once, but twice, as the owners watched from their front porch.
Ever see the film "Local Hero"? Re a rabbit they hit on the road: "Maybe we should put it out of its misery" "How?" "Hit it with something heavy?" "We already hit it with a two ton car."
