I'm really interested in obtaining an additional set of targa tops for painting to match my 328 or, in the worst case, having my tops painted to match. Anyone have any suggestings for shops in New England who may be qualified for the job? Also looking to upgrade my stock wheels to +1 modulars. I would love to get some feedback on people's experience with the pros and cons of increases in wheel diameters on the ride/suspension and leads on a good suppliers for the new rims and/or tops.

    Thanks!

A very good friend of mine, Mike Noonan, runs Mike's Autobody in Malden, MA. 781 324 9831. www.mikes-autobody.com. He did the front respray on my 355, and also did the body-color on the top to my 348.

Bob Hatch is also a good friend, but he's closing up in two weeks. The only other body shop I'd recommend is Continental down in CT, but it's a bit far.

Thanks for the input! I know exactly where Mike's is as I used to live about 3 miles from there when I was in school in Boston. I wasn't aware they did high-end stuff, but then again, back in those days any new car was but a dream to me, much less an F-car. I'll check them out.

I did a search and got a lot of references to Boston Sportscar. I checked out their website but it appears they do primarily engine/transmission work. Are they into body repair as well? Anyone have any experiences with them?

Darin at Boston Sports Car is a great guy (actually, they all are), but Darin is now selling used sports cars out of their Newburyport sales room, and is no longer in charge of handling service at their Weston service shop. BSC has a new service manager out of Ferrari of Washington, very nice guy whose name escapes me right now, alas.

Boston Sportscar does not do bodywork. They outsource that to Hatch & Sons.

Try John Borchelt for 328 roof panels in Carbon Fiber. You can paint it and keep your other one stock. Haven't seen this panel but I hear it's nice and even gives an extra inch or so in head room. 650-520-4822. Or maranelloauto.com. His ads used to be in FCA bulletin. I've thought of doing the same myself.

I have 19 inch wheels all the way around on my 328. Wheels by Axis 19X8. 235 35 zr 19 front, and 275 35 zr 19s rear ( p-zero rosso). Only when I throw the car into hard corners do a get very slight rub on inner wells. I have a 1" spacer too. Shocks are double adjustables from Nick's. Forearms get just a little more workout at low speed.

Bob sold the building and the used car sales and service business to Foreign Motors West, which also owns the Land Rover dealership next door. He retained the right to the bodyshop and the restoration business, but needs to vacate that portion off the premises. Dunno if he's found a new site or not. Upside is that Bob does get more time to spend playing with Ferraris!
