The wifes... they are much smarter and cooler than us. They know what they want but they never really tell us. So we always feel like that they never get to their dreams. Because we never really know what they want. We, men, are stupid. We just come out and say it ..."Ferrari" is what we want. And when we get our dream which is the Ferrari, we shut up and act nice and let them know we are done....
I have spent years to find out what woman wants, what's their dream, what's their Ferrari... Finally I know.. what they want is............... ....""" a great lifestyle """"... the bags, nice house, diamond, clothes, fashion. They want them all. Which, if you think about it, we have given them that...a good life. We, men want one big thing. They want everything to compose their perfect life. So, when we stupid men after getting our Ferrari, we go to our wife and ask what is the one thing you really want honey???... That's just show how stupid we are. They are laughing inside. So if you already have a nice home, great income, great job, let she update her fashion, then there is no "wife tax" for you. Let she see that the Ferrari is part of our lifestyle. Let she arrive at party in the Ferrari. Let the Ferrari be part of her lifestyle like the bags and diamonds and clothes then, no wife tax for you. And you, as a husband is a major part of their lifes. If you are true to them plus lifestyle
you have given them then, their dream come true.......

    Patpong,

Sounds like you need to get around some other women. Not all of them are materialistic little morons. Not everybody is driven by what they "want". Your post is insulting to the vast majority of women. And men, too, come to think of it.

Maybe you ought to go have a chat with your local Buddhist monks there in Thailand. I'm sure they'll be happpy to share a different, and healthier, perspective with you. You're living inside the priison of your desires, and perceiving everybody else through the same lens. There's a whole big world out there above and beyond living for, and through, possessions.

I think Patpong is just trying to share his opinions with everyone. If you don't agree, that's fine. But don't make it personal. If you want, be objective and share your views. Bear in mind that he may not be totally wrong because he lives on the other side of the planet with a totally different culture.

Well said. Obviously, there must be some significant cultural differences. Virtually all the American women I've known, and the European women also, don't seem to have any trouble telling you exactly what they want. Men may not want to listen, but women here put it right up front. And if you're not meeting their needs, they let you know about it. Different cutures, different ways of dealing with things.

    Patpong,
You do make one point I agree with, and that is to share the Ferrari with our partner. Maybe I have been selffish, I think in a year, my wife has only been in the 355 three or four times. It would be great if the wife would get the F-car fever and get turned on as much as we do. For the lucky ones who already have a partner with the F-car fever, congrats! I think I will work harder at getting my wife sick :)

The fellow I bought my 328 from was an artist by trade, and he told me that there were three overriding passions in this life: His wife, his art, and Ferraris. But, he added, his wife always came first!

The reason that I started this thread is because I see many thread regarding this wife tax thing like... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49292 It seems like many feel guilty when buying a Ferrari for themself. I have never had that problems. So I spent many time to think about why.. Why I never had such problems? Did I spend my money and never thought about my wife? Then, I got the answer that woman and men are totally different as I mentioned. What I am trying to say is if we men take care of our family well... providing the nice comfortable house, good income, good education for the children, do what they said in the old days as what hudband should do then, a Ferrari will be part of the family, part of hers... The bottom line is I believe I have provided such good lifestyle to my family.. my wife and childred are happy. And I found the way. I might did it badly try to share it to my FChat friends But ignore it if you don't agree.....

I agree, both me and my mrs. are Asians and maybe because of our educational background and the time spent 'overseas' we tend to be more liberal/ westernised in our thinking. That and the fact that she has always had a thing for Ferraris does not mean she forgets her monthly dose of shopping sprees for god-knows-why-so-expensive-Italian-French designer items....

I think it's YOUR justification for buying YOUR Ferrari. Not everyone has that same approach in mind.... I don't think it's a cultural thing, there are materialistic people in all cultures and all nations. Not that there is anything wrong with that.... again it's your personal perspective but it just happens to not be mine.

If I ask how many of the wife of the Ferrari owners have Chanel, Gucci, LV bags...., I bet 95% of the Asian will be yes. And I bet may be much less of other cultures say yes...IMO It's a culture thing. (Am I starting another fight?)

Coming from a "wife" and other culture - the perfume, designer labels, Gucci, Louis Vitton, diamonds is of little significance to me and obviously less significant in regards to the fact that we own a Ferrari. For us there's no "bartering" involved with this vehicle or any other we own as what seems to be found in posts on a similar thread. We enjoy our cars, we have fun with them, don't need to impress anyone with anything. Life IMO is about the inner person, not what they wear or how they look ("Trophies").

Patpong, this is not a fight nor is it meant to attack you personally. You are entitled to your opinion just like others that post here and no... my wife does not own any of those name brands. I guess I'm in that 5% minority.... lucky me! LOL!

My wife also say the same thing. She is a wonderful wife and mother. I love her the most...But when LV, Gucci, CD new collection comes in, she'll get the call and an invitation for a private shopping. They close the shop just for a couple of their VIP customers, including my wife to shop first and let others wait outside for a few hours. As for me I know nothing until I get home and see all the boxes........ you see I pay Ferrari tax everyday.. and thank God, I make enough money to spoil my wife and my kids which in turn make me so pround of myself.

And for me, if a material can bring you a little of happiness, so let it be. You think we are not materialistic, we drive Ferrari............IMO
