Well, after 25 years of driving Ferraris and other exotics in the city something finally happened. I was driving on Ashland and one of the tie down spikes that hold the steel plates in place caught the exhaust on the driver's side and ripped it off. The exhaust is toast but no one was hurt. The police responded fairly quickly and were great. I'll keep people posted on how well the city responds and include pics later. Oh well 25 years was a good run. :)

And gotten your immediate attention....... the sound of it was likely gutwrenching.
    Sorry to hear.

Just a tad loud :) my son was a bit freaked :(. We thought it would be fun to take the car out one last time. I'm having a beer and then going out to the garage. The cop was great and also pointed out the right front wheel looked a bit bent.

"one last time"... famous last words.

My Viper got backed into by an SUV on what I was planning to be my "last" drive (although since then I haven't been able to resist driving it more)

At least the cops are helping you out. That's surprising :D

Ouch! I hope it wasn't too bad. I've always found cpd to be very helpful.

Mostly just a scratch, it was more of a shock watching it happen than anything

About a year and a half ago though, somebody ran a red light and hit my Sebring and took off. Damage was worse and both of us had passengers. Chicago police were entirely unhelpful even though I got his license plate number. I'm guessing the guy was drunk and preferred hit & run > DUI, but he got away with both.

While I appreciate the humor, it is such a sad commentary on our state. 50% of our recent governors landed in jail! It looks like they will soon have some company from the House. On a happier note, I took the resonators to a buddies shop and he thinks (cross fingers) he can fix the bend. We shall see. I have to order new hangers and take it over to see if he can get everything to line up. He plans on making the tail section and welding the tips (which were not damaged) to the new pipes. FWIW the company contracted to fix the street did repair the lovely steel spike divet on Ashland. I'm annoyed that I've missed some great late fall driving but, C'est la vie.

Sorry to hear about the damage, A girl friend told me she saw the aftermass and the sad/angry look on the driver 's face. But no one was hurt and it didn't throw the car into something else. Just look to next year.
