http://www.apexpredators.com/store/showCategoriesProducts.asp?categoryID=6 It is great to see such high quality images of it. I commend the photographer. I always loved sharks and have watched discovery channel shows about them extensively since I was a little kid. (shark week ) Blue sharks forever!
Wow!! I would be scared sh*tless if I saw one of those things. I hope I don't encounter one when I go scuba diving off the South Florida coast this weekend. That would be bad...to say the least
Omar, I'm with you. I think it's incredible. I've always thought sharks are the most incredible animals, and have been diving with them a few times. By far one of the most amazing experiences is to see a shark moving through its natural environment.
When I was growing up I was a HUGE shark fan/addict. I watched the Jaws series and the National Geographic video on sharks countless times, and read every book I could find at any library I went to. One of my life goals is to go on a charter to see some great whites, perhaps off Australia or South Africa, like the company whose pictures were posted http://www.ultimate-animals.com/tours/10day_tour.htm
I'd love to get up close with Great Whites. It would be cool to do a cage dive and be able to watch them in motion.
I can take 'em or leave 'em but my better half is addicted to great whites in particular. At some point I am obligated to take her to South Africa so she can do the cage dive. I will be having beer on the boat. Great site BTW. Cheers Kevin
I've dreamt of that my entire life - but to be honest the reality of it (those cages are really not that big) and facing the open maw of a great white underwater... I would die of heart failure or shock. Maybe if I go on a charter first and see them from the surface I will be less afraid. Which is funny, cause I would do the open water dive with blue sharks on their other tour offering any day, but there's something psychological about great whites...
You're probably right. The first time I did a shark dive was in the Bahamas where they have the group sit on the floor of the ocean and feed them as they swim by. Pretty cool, and you never really feel any concern because the sharks know what the deal is. Another time, though, a buddy and I were diving on a wreck when a snorkelling tour pulled up. There was a "resident" black tip at the wreck, but it didn't bother anyone. However, the tour boat started chumming and out of nowhere, about 2 dozen others appeared. That was a little freaky, since it wasn't in the plans. Fortunately they're only interested in the food.
Exactly. During the first dive, it was almost the equivelant of trained circus bears. Everyone sits in a semi-circle with the divemaster in the middle. The sharks swim to him and get a fish, then swim right over your heads to where you can reach up and stroke their bellies!
