I feel worse for you than I for myself selling mine after nine months. Good luck with sale. Sorry. But hey, you did it, right?

    Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. Please don't feel too bad! Fortunately, this is a disciplined choice, not something I am being forced to do. I'd love to keep the car. However, I know that this route ultimately leads to someone else paying for my next Ferrari. Not me.

    Piper- you're 100% correct

John- that means the world coming from you.

If you guys can help someone get a great deal that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't do that to you all. You've all been great to me. But, someone better hurry up cause the price will go up if I have to spend $4000 in the next couple weeks to register vehicle and put a tag on her.

Unless you have a dealers license, Im fairly certain its illegal to flip a car and not pay sales tax and licensing. Good luck though, I wouldnt do it, and I definitely wouldnt buy a car that has another name on the paperwork other than the sellers.

Great question: I think I am still going over it in my head.

It boils down to the disciplined forethought & knowing that when I buy a second rental property without a mortgage and receive $1000 or more a month from rental income that it will be easy to save on the side + the rental income and have a sizeable down payment in no time to look at a 456M GTA or keep trucking along until I am back in the 599 realm...

Hmmm, that's interesting. I know in Mass. that you only pay sales tax when you register the car to obtain license plates. As far as I know if you don't register the car you could sell it and never pay sales tax or the excise tax that your local city/town collects.

However, without registering it, you do not obtain a title in your name. Maybe you can sign over the title from the seller you bought the car from. Not sure how that would work in this state. I do know Mass. is very particular about determining the sales price so they collect every possible cent of sales tax ........ the blood suckers.

Wow, what a cluster. I've read over your explanations and it seems that this is a raging case of "red mist" induced buyer's remorse.

If you come out of this unscathed, consider yourself very lucky indeed. The reality is you will lose a chunk of change or will have to wait a long time to come out whole. Worst case, you wait a long time and still lose money. Sucks, but that is the most probable outcome.

As your research illuminated, these higher mileage 599s are available all day long in the high 130s and 140s. Buyers have a lot to choose from - not just with 599s but with other comparable sports cars (e.g., a 2012 SLS, McLaren MP4-12C, etc.).

Price it however you want but stop with the "Oops, the price just went up because I didn't think of this other thing". No buyer is going to just pony up for *your* shipping costs, *your* servicing costs, and *your* tax & registration. If you really want to sell this car and start over quickly, then you best get very aggressive with the pricing.

My guess is that it'll take a year of rental income to wipe out the mark this is going to leave. I dunno, if I were 29 and in this exact position - I'd probably suck it up and live with my decision (i.e., keep the car).

    Good luck.

Nobody hates paying the man more than I, but I dont like looking over my shoulder either.

What the OP is talking about is called 'Floating the Title'. Its illegal in all 50 states for people without a dealers license. Im sure it happens all the time on Craigs List etc., but a licensed, bonded dealer wont play this game.

If any buyer wants you to leave the date, sale amount or their name off of the title at the time of sale.....run. There is no upside for you. I always require a state issued DL and copy the information over to the title/release of liability.

Well stated. For any Fchat member - I'd be willing to take a $2500 hit and accept $135 (this still includes full service) to do things correctly. I might be able to get the dealership to null my sale and complete new paperwork to save the potential new buyer $1500. If not; ohh well.

I will be listing the car in a few weeks and most likely asking $138 with a firm on price clause. If she sells, great, if not, well as Rick stated earlier - might be stuck with my decision for a bit until things work out for me.

I am not incredibly upset either way. It's the right thing to do (invest in my future) or enjoy the vehicle for a bit and sell it Even Stephen as these vehicles remain stable or see a slight up tick.

Asking for prayers and fingers crossed as always fella's!
