at Ed's today; and his beautiful 348 Spyder. He was having it serviced. Nice meeting you Charlie, hope you'll join us on some drives. Will you be at the VA show Saturday?
Skip, Saturday, I'll be troubleshooting a brake light malfunction on the 348. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the problem until after leaving Ed's. I've also received the dreaded Vehicle Emisson Test Notice. Any advise?
Since you don't say what the brake light malfunction is, I'll take a stab at it. If some of the brake lights work, it could be bad bulbs in the ones that don't. If none of the brake lights work, it could be a blown fuse, or the brake light switch located behind the arm of the brake pedal needs adjustment, or it's defective. For the emission test, take the 348 to the testing station on Hicks Rd by Ed, and insist on an idle test (stand alone). This means that your car won't be driven by anyone but you, and most importantly, won't be put on the Dyno. I'm not quite sure if your car has OBDII, (I don't think it does) but if it does, the test center will just hook their puter' up to yours. If it fails, drive it 1/2 mile back to Ed's and see if it may just be a defective/loose gas cap, or possibly need a quick lean out on the fuel mixture to make it pass. Let me know what happens......
