I sold my 348 Spider with the intentions of buying a 360. The deal for the 360 fell apart b/c the car wasn't how the seller described it and it failed the PPI. However, my 348 was gone.

Since then, I have committed some funds to other investments and I wish I had just kept my 348.

    Just venting..............

As the guy who ended up with your 348 Spider from Florida, through Cleveland, and out to San Diego, there's a small twinge of feeling bad for you! The car is beautiful, it's been pretty thoroughly gone through, fluids, plugs, etc, all changed out, 360 wheels added, new floormats in, and it's comfortable and dry in my garage. I don't know if this makes you feel any better - but there's only one thing to do. Go buy another one!! :) (I still go out sometimes after work, turn on the light in the garage, gaze at it, and then get back to my honey-do list.)

Yeh, Rick, you definitely got a good one......... I miss it (I am glad that someone got it who appreciates it) They're hard to find like that. I didn't appreciate it enough until it was gone. Post some pictures of my old baby with the new rims, etc...

Prancing- I looked at some 355's. Although I love them, I don't know if they're worth the extra cost over the 348's. Plus they seem to have potential issues (valve guides, headers, top mechanism, dash shrinkage, center console delamination, etc...). For some reason, I can't bring myself to buying another 348 (been there, done that, plus I would probably spend more than I sold mine for - psycological barriers).

I just can't seem to justify spending 2x what I sold my 348 Spider for on a 360 Coupe right now.

Your next car has to be the 360. My take is when the 430 starts shipping, suddenly the 360's will be much more affordable for many of us! :)

Fred, maybe it's time to consider a 12?

How about a nice Testarossa? Or a 456?

My thoughts as well - if you loved your 348 that much (and why wouldn't you?? :)) the TR will remind you of your 348 but still be different.

    Cheers

I know how you feel (sort of). I sold my 328 back in Febuary due to my wife's illness. I thought I needed it for medical bills, but luckily, our insurance has covered all of it. I put the money in some investments but now I am thinking of getting a 355 in the early spring. Not sure I want to spend all the moeny for one. Maybe I'll go back and get another 328. Not sure at this point.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Rick - yes- I hope the 360's drop a bit when the 430 enters the market. The only problem is that then I'll want a 430!! LOL.

Jimpo & Kevallino- I'm open to suggestions.

Jimmy - see my 355 thoughts.

Theo - I knew there would be someone else who felt the pain.....

I do too. But, 512's seem to be going for about what a 355 Spider can be bought for.

I feel your pain. I was in the same place last year. About 8 weeks without a Ferrari in my garage. I was seriously bummed out. I know my wife didn't understand but actually, I'm not kidding that much. Then, when I was just about to go nuts, bam, a member of this board placed his perfect 355B for sale. It took less than ten minutes and the deal was made. Just in time! I kept my sanity and fed the Ferrari beast. Keep strong buddy. You have our support! (Kind of like a support group, hi, my name is ------- I have a Ferrari addiction...)

Fred: I went from the 92 348 to the 97 355, quite a difference and I really like it. No regrets. Actually a very different car, especially for an older guy like me!:)

Go to eBay and check out the piles and piles of 360's that are not selling. Now fast forward a year or two when everyone who has a 360 wants to get a 430...and needs to sell the 360. The market will be FLOODED with 360s even more than it already is and I assure you that the price on 360s will come way down, as well as the price on 355's. The 360 in 2006 will be the 355 of 2001. If I were in the market for either a 360 or 355 at this point, I would wait at least a year for the 430 to solidly hit the market. Prices will drop.

Interestingly, the dealer I spoke with feels that 360 prices will rise once the 430's start to ship.

He's not getting the 360's in trade for the 430's. Owners are selling them themselves and getting better money than the dealer offers.

He thinks that the prices will rise because demand will rise as the 430 hits the street, interest in Ferrari's in general will go up. HE saw a similar price spike in 355's when the 360's 1st came out.

Only time will tell.. But, there are some nice 360's available out there now.

i can maybe believe there could be a halo lift on the 360s when the 430s come out. for sure i can believe a halo effect could keep the 360 prices stable.

but like all things in this regard, the prices will fall. if a halo effect happens, i can't see how it could last that long. the 360 was not a limited production car by any slicing of ferrari-math.

and we can reasonably assume total 430 production will top total 360 production, and since the 430 is quite a technical bump over the 360, i think you'll see 360 buyers scrambling to replace with 430s, and that can't help 360 pricing.

    it's just a car. it'll depreciate.

    doody.

The 430's will sell for probably 9-13k MSRP over the 360. I know FOA is literally sold out for 2 years minimum. If I remember correct nearly 400 were on the "list". I believe the 360's will take a decent hit for the sole reason that there is so many of them. I think I will be buying a CS this spring. I may be selling my F355 F1. Absolutely perfect car and maintenance. Branko & Judge4re have seen the car. If somebody was interested I may be willing to reserve the car for sale. PM for more info.

Oh man, that car was a keeper. First I sell the 355 and now you...Q

BTW - No OT or flames....but my Diablo just keeps putting a bigger smile on my face each time I drive it - Holly Cow what a car.

Fred - plenty of 360's around..patience my friend.

RICKDAY246 - Get a copy of M&M Magazine (makes and models) current month. You'll see pictures of your 348 (and my old 355) from a recent show. Good for you to have this kind of info to go with the car. See FL section for more info or send me a PM on how to get it.

FRED - Come to Cavallino & Italafest even if you don't have a car. Be good to see you again.

By the time the 430 is available here, the Euro will cost $1.50 IMO. So I'll be surprised if the cheapest 6-speed 430 with no options is priced below 200K. The 200K threshold will prove to be a psychological, if not financial, barrier to lots of present 360 owners and other 430 aspirants. Sure, the first year or two will sell out at just about any price but I think it'll be harder to sell 430s after that as the price climbs significantly above the 200K mark and as other interesting sports cars become viable alternatives in that price range.

So don't count on a precipitous drop in 360 prices any time soon. Of course, as a happy 360 owner, I might have a biased viewpoint! :)

Sorry to hear about that! I know how it feels to be so anxious about getting a new car then the deal falls apart and your other baby is gone. Dont worry though, you'll get back into a Ferrari soon, I'm thinking 355? Maybe a 456?

    Thanks everyone!!

I'm looking forward to the Cavallino event this month. I'll either really appreciate that I don't have a F-car to service or want another one even more!! LOL.
