Do you know for sure it's the pump?

It could be the clutch went bad and locked up.

    Check that first.

I don't know what kind of compressor the 355 has and $375 does not sound bad price, but you may want to try to get a new or rebuilt on from a non-ferrari source--it may be cheaper to get a new one.
The 328s use a York that is common (except for the clutch) to many cars.

WHAT HAPPENED IS THE CAR WAS SQUEELING LIKE CRAZY,I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF ASAP.

I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND IT THREW THE BELT OFF AS WELL AS WAS SMOKING BIGTIME AS IF THE BELT WAS SPINNING ON A NON-MOVING PART.SOMETHING WASN'T SPINNING IM SURE.

THIS MIGHT BE THE CLUTCH OF THE COMPRESSOR??

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RE-BUILD IT OR IS IT NOT POSSIBLE OR COST EFFECTIVE??

The unit is made by Sanden and can be sourced by most local repair shops...my mechanic replaced my old Sanden unit - branded Ferrari in a 456GT with a new Sanden unit without the Ferreri logo for $450 - Installed.

Could be a bad bearing in the tensioner pulley...........Need to investigate first. Don't speculate.

If that did not include the clutch then you paid to much. The York compressor is $250 from a local source here (but without the fancy Ferrari Clutch - which can be swapped over from you old unit).
