Young grasshopper, if you are asking this here, you may not be ready.

As others have pointed out, buying a Ferrari is not rational or practical. If it were, than there would be far more of them out there, and the mystique just wouldn't be the same.

Those of us who have taken the plunge and take the good with the bad (high service cost, high parts cost, waiting to get parts, fixing things we sometimes wonder why needed fixing etc.) and with all that, would still (and do still) do it over and over and over again. Are we masochists? I think not. I think that those of us who have done it have found that fire inside, perhaps even the same fire that was exemplified in Enzo himself. It definately isn't for everyone. You have to ask your self, is it for you? You are the only one who can answer that.

    Good luck!

Scotty's issue about unwanted attention (especially from the police, in my view) hits home with me, too. My Porsche is a dark, metallic color that seems to draw little or no attention from anyone, and I like that. I also like flying under the radar, especially I'm driving "briskly."

I'm looking at the possibility of buying a Mondial coupe, but most were made in red. A red Ferrari would make me feel conspicuous, and vulnerable to the attention of others. I'd want the car simply for what it is (not for what it seems to be to others), and would prefer the ownership experience to be more "private" than "public."

Does anyone else share this discomfort that Scotty talks about?
