    First of all I know posting this does not warrent any replys. And I know that because I am only a lurker here and what I'm about to ask may not justify any serious replys but, the least I can do is ask.

    Today my brother and my best freind were pulled over and searched for drugs. The officer did find drugs in my mom's truck (they were using it to move a TV to my apartment here in Omaha). Both my brother and my freind have stated that they do not do or sell drugs. And I can speak with confidence that I belive them. The freind however mentioned that he knows someone that does do drugs and was with him in the truck a few days before this has happened. My brother's freind has the name and I think the contact information of the person that may have had these drugs in the truck.

    Is there any thing that can be done.

    I don't know how much they had or what they had. Either way, tell them to shut up and get a lawyer. It is not good anyway they look at it. Depending on their back ground, fight or negotiate. Either way, say nothing and get lawyer.

    possesion is 9/10th of the law. They hear these excuses all the time..its not mine or how did that get in there..sombodies playing a trick on me etc. Best thing to do is to get your buddy to own up to his drugs and take responsability for his habit. As far as the cops are concered...its your stash and they will not listen to you or you mother regardless of what you tell them. As stated, get yourself a lawyer and don't say another word..on this thread or anywere else for that matter.

    Even if they are not his, maybe it is better for him to admit to being an addict (even if he is not), so he can get a suspended sentence, deffered to a rehab stint. His lawyer will probably be able to do a deal with the judge, especially if your brother is white, middle/upper class and no priors.

    (I am not a lawyer, so these are just my musings),

    The drug wars are turning America into a Nazi police state. Jail time for some herbs... Come on.

    I met a British girl in Ibiza, who turned out to be a cop. Well she did every narcotic substance known to man-kind since 1546. Coke, E you name it.

    Holland if you are caught with less then 1 kilo of coke, they don't bother prosecuting you, you just get deported.

    Less then a 100 pills is personal consumption. (You should those ravers popping pills like Pez candy)

    Well I just found out after talking to my brother and my parents that my brother is doing drugs and he said that he admited that it was his.

    That said I am extremly dissapointed in him right now.

    Difficult situation. Any addiction is tough to deal with, but remember, it's your brother who has the addiction, and who needs your help, not your scorn.

    Support is critical from everyone in the family. He's already in trouble, compounding it with a lot of crap about "your dissapointment" isn't going to help him, so although that's a normal reaction, dumping on him right now isn't going to help him get better. Do your very best to control that, and be his brother, not his conscience.

    Get him a great lawyer, right now. Best you can afford. Ask your doctor if he knows anyone who can help on the addiction issue, get him into rehab, NOW! that will also help in your dealing with the justice system later.

    If he's in school, there may be a drug and alcohol counselor there who can help, too. (That's what one of my sisters does.)

    NNO, don't need a warrant to search a car on a stop. I'm not sure they even need your permission if they have a reason to believe something is amiss. (smell of pot, erratic driving, etc.)

    Getting caught is the least of his problems.. my brother's good friend (15+ years) was found dead in his bedroom this morning.

    I can only wonder if this will shake some f'ing sense into my brother, who shares his buddy's passion for weed, coke, prescription pills and drinking. We've only been on them for five years now :rolleyes: and this comes ten years after our cousin's death from the same thing.

    I'm surprised that he finally admitted to it. The only thing is to get a good lawyer as mentioned before. Maybe he can get off a little easier. The system is intervening here on your brother. It may be what saves his life. He will need to do some sole searching to determine what path he will choose. A path of drugs will almost certainly lead to a slippery slope that'll ruin his life. The thing is that only he can make the choice to begin to turn things around. All the best for him and hopefully he'll learn from it.

    You guys are right, while I am dissapointed he is still my brother. And I will be there for him even though he made a mistake. Right now I hope he takes this time to learn from his mistakes. Picks himself up and moves forward.

    As far as the actual legal part my parents essentally told me to stay out of it and let them talk to the lawyers (seeing how I'm only 26 that kind of makes since). One of my problems is that when something bad happens in the family I tend to worry about things way too much and take too much responsiblity.
