Long story short, It has taken me about two weeks to figure out my long crank no start problem.

Figured out a voltage drop to coils and back into the ignition switch.

When I jiggle the switch, the car starts, but there is no way to take apart the switch that I can see. (just the switch and not the key cylinder)

Does anyone know where I can get another one?

No longer any part number availble and have called around with no luck.

Is there any know interchangeable part form a Fiat or???

I can try a relay mod or start button, but I would like to do it right if possible.

You can carefully drill the off the ends of the two tubular rivets that hold the switch together. This will allow you to disassemble, clean and inspect the switch contacts. I fabricated new tubular rivets from some brass tubing that I purchased at a hobby store. To assemble the switch, I flared the ends of the tubing by tightening a countersunk machine screw through the tubing.

Mine Mon is an 84 UK ? car. The key is the same as a Lancia. I have for some strange reason a couple of Lancia steering columns, not sure if the locks are still on them but I will check for you.

The ignition switch that went bad is the black switch behind the key cylinder with alll the wires. (7 or 8) I believe.

any help would be appreciated. Not to sure about taking that bugger apart.

I can post pic if needed.

The ignition switch in my '82 Fiat Spider looks very simular to the one in my '88 Mondial.
I actually wanted to look into this as the spring return on my (Mondial) ignition is not working as well as I would like.
Can someone come up with the Ferrari pt # and cross it to Fiat?
I also would like to get my gritty little paws on a OE ignition if possible, for future use.
    LOL

    No part number anymore...

Re the fiat, I found out the door handles are the same on the fiat spiders and I saved $400 by finding an old handle on Ebay $2 for a door handle spring repair.

The ignition spring back is controled by a relay of some sort, I found this out after I put the wrong relay back in the fuse panel by mistake and the key ignition wouldn't spring back. I put the right relay in its place and it works now.
