Someone help pleeeese........ Just got a 355 F1. Tubi exhaust already fitted. What can be done to increase the power ? Also how can I check if the car has been chipped or not ? Sleepless nights ahead until an answer is revealed
Get ya car onto a rollin road (dyno) to get a basic idea of what ya cars knocking out first. Alot of owners try to avoid this, thinking that the factory quoted power of 375bhp is RWP its not its at the crank My own car has a hamonn chip and a de-cat Capristo, along with K&Ns. Standard 355s are showing about 315-320ish rwp bhp, mine has 328wrp bhp. Which holds more power than a standard 360. There is alot of talk about how to add things to up the power on a 355, but when all is said and done the car has to be dynoed to get the real power figure. Another high powerd 35 on here bellongs to Lusso64, who has gone the NAperformance manifold rout along with a tubi and K7Ns and his knocks out about the same ( see last pic) Also heres the link. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106847&highlight=355+dyno+results Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hyperflow cats flow about 35%-40% better than OEM cats. It is my understanding that test pipes flow about 5% better than HyperFlow cats. I removed the test pipes from my 348 and installed HyperFlow cats. I noticed zero decrease in power, throttle response, or nice sound. Now, I can have my car emissions tested without needing to worry whether it'll pass.
355s are really that slow to begin with. The first thing that you have to ask yourself before you start modifying the car is why are you doing it? If you want to go faster.........take a driver's school. If its to be a better drag racer (in other words "go fast/straight line"), you bought the wrong car. Ferrari's are meant to be driven hard on mountain roads and race tracks (road courses), not drag strips.
And i do and i also kick the ases of the 360s People will always be in the quest of trying to get the most out of there cars no matter what they drive. So what you are saying is that you should stick with the standard exhaust system then??? Becourse all said and done on a 355 its only the exhaust system and filters that you change to get a little more, whats the big deal? No one mentioned straight line dragging until you did I notice on your profile picture that your 348 has after market wheels on it, why? What was wrong with the standard ones? Was you trying to make your car better than when it was standard?? And if they were stanard, havnt you done anything to your ferraris to make them that little bit more special? Do ya see what i mean?
If you have the budget are is the bolt on recipe. NA performance headers Test pipes or Hyper Flow cats Free flow muffler like Tubi, Capristio, or X-Ost Better breathing air filter like K&N, or BMC Better air intake like Gruppe-M Then if you like, you can get the throttle bodies ported. If you really want to spend some more money pull the heads and have them ported. But if you are after some BIG power gains do what F-chatter Ton, from the Aussie section, did to his 355, Twin turbo's. You can read all about it here http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29754 If I remember he got something like 800+hp on race gas. But I think you would be pretty satisfied with the first five.
Think about weight. I've heard it takes 15hp to better the 0-60 times by .1 sec. Removing 100lbs. will do the same. Removing weight will improve the cornering as well, something horsepower will not do. No fat chicks. No huge stereo amps with woofers.
X-OST shaved about 15 pounds off the butt end of my car. HyperFlow? haven't weighed them, but I would expect a 5-7 pound saving -- at least.
