Well...for those who don't know, the Arrow II has an AD that requires recurrent prop hub inspections (100 hours). Looks like I'm on course for the "highly recommended" new prop hub...in addition to the new turn coordinator, and, as of today, new DG. Not heartbroken, as I'd rather have the new hub anyway and would like to get the autopilot back with the TC.

Anyway, does anyone know of a place I can check for good prices on such parts? The best I've come up with is $3500 for the hub, $1375 for the coordinator (exactly 1 turn coordinator works for an arrow II w/o modification of the electrical interface). Haven't checked on the DG yet, but I'm figuring $800-1000.

On a side note, I have a small but competent (or so I thought) cadre of pilots who rent my plane. Two days ago, one of them managed to jam a rather large mechanical pencil between the trim wheel and the plastic housing (how...?). Trim cable jumped the wheel, had to have the trim reset, rewound, blah blah blah. Renting is supposed to help with maintenance, not create more, right?? Yeah, I know :)

I don't know about what the US market is like for avionics pricing, but 800-1000 sounds like a bit much for an exchange (assuming you have a good core) on a DG up here.

Air or electric? Post lights or external lighting?

Mid-continent instruments is the go to people for DG's and horizons. IMHO

Just checked their catalog, 1040us list for the air driven externally lit, 1230us list for air driven internally lit. You can probably do a little better then that if simply got on the horn to everyone in your area, if it's not a rush you might be able to save by getting it shipped from another area. As well you can bring it down as mentioned above by doing an exchange on the dud one.

    Hope that helps

Thanks, David! Unfortunately, it is kind of a rush because my plane is used primarily as an instrument training/travel platform, and there are some things I need to get done soon. I'm not sure what shape the core is in, but I'll find out shortly. Anyway, I'm not too upset as I don't like the DG in there anyway, so I think I'm just going to spring for a nice, new unit and be happy.

If you can find a prop hub for 1230 US, I'll come to Canada and kiss you. Err, maybe not. :)

Anyways... Trevor is a great help in aiding one in parts or tech. info. Let him know I had contacted you through this site. Hope this helps. Kent
