I need new cell phones for me, my wife and one daughter. Currently using Motorola V60. Its been fine except for breaking antenna every 6 months. I don't need PDA type phone, just a sturdy dependable flip phone. Of course the daughter wants text, camera and down load ring tones. Here are my choices below, any recommendations?? http://business.verizonwireless.com/b2b/jsp/phones.jsp?sectionDataName=PHONE .
Do not buy from a verizon store. For the last few years I have used letstalk.com and they are great to deal with and a store makes you get a two year contract where thru letstalk it's only one year. I just got the Cingular 900 minute with rollover for 59.99 then 9.99 for each additional line. Also they have a deal right now on the Motorola V220 where you actually make $30 on each phone with rebate. Or check out the many other options they list. All you do is pick your carrier, your plan then they list all phones available http://www.letstalk.com/
Right now I'm paying $99 per month for 4 phones, 400 min total, free cell to cell in network, free after 9pm, and free weekends. Even with 2 teens I've never paid for minutes. Is 100 bucks per month competative for 4 phones?
My bill is $96 for thee lines. I needed a larger amount of minutes as my teenage stepdaughter uses it as her only phone at college. As your daughters get older I would think you would need more minutes also. Saw Verizon offers a 1,000 minute rollover plan for $70 with $9.99 for each additional line. Might be something to look at. Also if you get them a phone with web browser capabilities make sure you request your carrier to disable it. Those costs can add up very quickly. Also cingular's free incalling network is huge now due to it's merger with AT&T
Not to highjack the thread or anything, but, I need to vent here. I can't stand that phone companies don't offer discounts on phones for EXISTING customers! For instance, I'm a nextel customer and I called and wanted to upgrade to the new i830. $325 for a new phone, regardless of the fact that I've used Nextel for the last 8 years! However, if your a new customer who signs a new agreement, then you get a rebate, blah blah blah, I could pick up the phone for under a 100 bucks!!!! I'm in business. I have a couple customers who have purchased a lot of product from me. One has been using our customer as a supplier for about 10 years. You bet we give the preffered treatment. I've stuck with nextell through all the CRAP that they put out when they first came mainstream! I've put up with the fact that they have been VERY slow about putting out new phones that are as nice as their competition. Turns out it's not just Nextel. My fiance went to buy a new phone and she uses AT&T Wireless. She's been with them for 5 years. Full price for the phone...."sorry you have'nt been with us long enough" they said! Full price for this phone, UNLESS your a NEW customer where the phone was....FREE! that's ****ty!
I use Sprint, and when I want a new/different phone, I do some research on them, specifically NOT looking at the very latest. Then I go to Ebay and buy a used one. I've done this twice, and the phones were just fine, pretty cheap, and Sprint doesn't charge me anything to switch an existing account to a different phone--no new contracts. I'll never buy a new phone again.
Am sure your contract is up after all those years so just cancel and get a new contract and you can even keep your old number now. While where on this subject the one that pisses me off is when banks offer better rates for new customers, while their existing long term customers get lower rates
I understand what you are saying. I signed up with Nextel years ago when there were no contracts. That was one of their selling points and one of the reasons they got away with higher rates. well, now they have contracts....Lower rates didn't follow! Aside from that...I know my contract is up, but it's a pain in the azz to do this. My point is...I'M A CUSTOMER. If one of my customers calls and needs a break..if I can afford to do it, I will, I surly don't make him/her fill out another credit application and re-set up his/her account within my companies files! Again...I'm just venting. I think I'm making a good argumentative point.
Please, can anyone recommend any of these phones?? http://business.verizonwireless.com/b2b/jsp/phones.jsp?sectionDataName=PHONE
Well, I can't get the pic, but here is the short list: Motorola V265 vs Samsung SCH-a670 vs LG VX6100 Thanks!!!!!
I have found Motorola phones work the best. How much are they charging for them. That letstalk.com has Motorola V260 at $99 with a $100 rebate, so they are free with your Verizon plan
Go here and click on select different phones and you will see all the different ones you can use with Verizon. http://www.letstalk.com/product/promo.htm?depId=2&pgId=101&tNav=2&trk=HPFWS
Same experience here. I've tried most of the other brands and I keep coming back to Motorola. If you are looking for opinions on the models you listed you might try browsing or searching www.howardforums.com There is good info there on lots of different phones if you can stand to sift through all the chatter to get to it.
Several observations: Verizon does give established customers a $50/credit per line for signing another 2 year agreement. I believe the credit can be used for new phone purchases only. LG phones are supposedly very good (Consumer's reports rated them well, and several outlets/internet sites also indicate that they are as good as or now better than Motorola.) Motorola is the standard. I looked at the LG 6100--if I ever get unlazy enough to get in, that is the phone I would get.
FYI: Anyone looking to buy a NEXTEL Motorola i730 with LOTS of extras please e-mail me. Extra battery, data cable, etc. Also have a NEXTEL Motorola i2000plus for sale, dirt cheap.
I own a trucking company and agree with the fact that you need to stay away from Nextel. Had some very bad experiences with them and they will not honor a warrant on a phone. Standard answer is that you got it wet. One of them never left the secretary's desk! Tried several others and finally settled on Verizon. They actually replaced a phone that was out of warranty at no charge and have called me on two separate occassions to review my bills and offer a lower plan. Also they have the best coverage nationwide with no roaming charges. You will get your best deals online rather than at one of their stores. The offers are always changing so check out this link before you purchase. VERIZON
i really dont like motorola phones, ive gotten rid of 3 of them. I really like my new samsung e317 thou...its the perfect phone. Has everything, very durable. motorolas freeze, are slow, and make funny sounds
Can anyone tell me the difference between "dual band" and "tri-mode"? Seems the phones fall into these 2 catagories. thanks!
I would do without a cell phone rather then ever deal with any part of Nextel again in my life. That is the most retarded company who sells crappy services at high prices. The customer service people have the IQ of the average french fry. Sorry if I insulted any french fries online. Nokia phones have worked best for me- the software is the best in my opinion.
