This is not my first Ferrari, so I should have known better. '79 308 missing a lot of engine parts. I need cams, cam covers, air cleaner, a/c compressor, brackets, cam drive gears and all related parts, distributors, etc. you get the picture. Anybody? Thanks, Steve.

Cam covers are matched to the heads and not interchangable????

Not to be discouraging, or anything.......

you mean the cam caps right? I know that cam caps are matched and numbered but i've never heard of the cover being that way.

I need cam covers, not cam caps. Cam caps are matched and numbered. Cam covers are just like valve covers.

ahh you're right, the cams poke out thru there and the seals fit between. I would assume you could make another set work, can't be that far off between the engines.

You would think so but I have seen them swapped and have huge differences in where the rear ends are (like 1/16 step on the gasket surface. Same at the front ends for the seal pockets and O ring grooves.

It can be a real mess.

Forget about replacing the distributors. Get the Electromotive XDI system from Nick's Forza Ferrari. It will cost you a lot less than a pair of distributors, and comes complete with everything you need to set it up. Plus, you then have an electronic ignition system that is incredibly reliable, without the hastle of the dual points in two distributors, etc. And then have Wade make up a couple of end plates to cover where the distributors would mount, and a bracket for the coils.

I thought I had read that somewhere........Ferrari of Atlanta had two new distribs on the shelf once, $800 USD each.......

I wasn't sure mine were coming back, when TRutland'***** a rough patch there for awhile.....this was years ago.

So much for interchageability. An opportunity for a "Field Modification".

Bound to be better than the fabled "Fiero Modification" that we've seen here.

Bill @ GT Cars will not call me back. I'm done with him. Danny @ Boardwalk says he has become more than a little lax in returning calls. Still need parts.
