did you have a cell phone? Simply by calling 911 and reporting the plate number of the road raging a-holes might be enough to stop it next time.

And shooting them won't really solve the problem, now will it? You'll just end up in jail, surrounded by folks that are just like these two.

AND YES, IT SUCKS THAT YOU CAN'T DO THAT. Pepper spray on the keychain might be advisible next time.

Glad to see your OK----We get calls for road rage and crazy stuff like this all the time. Maybe also could have been some scam artist trying to bang the car up and claim it was your fault--for insurance money...

 

WOW!! Thats just nuts! Glad to see it didn't escalate into anything major, but geez "you anit gonna pass me on my road"??? What the hell kinda comment is that?? That dude needs a serious beating.

 

monday morning quarterbacking it... I would have stopped at the light and then either made a right hand turn or gone through it if there wasn't any traffic. You can't ever put yourself in position that compromises your safety. A traffic light IMO is a 'traffic control devise" if there isn't any traffic to control you don't need the devise. Whether your in a Ferrari or a Ford if you experience erradict driving from others, drunk, hostile or inherently dangerous do what you can to improvise and remove yourself from the threat.

I had the same thing happen when I was in highschool. Car full of kids spitting out there car at my then VW during a rivalry football week. I was on a four lane road w/ a center lane (suicide lane) and as I noticed the upcoming red light and started to decelerated I knew there was going to be trouble, w/ no on coming traffic I hit the e-brake and took off the other way. I'll never forget the look in their eyes. Holy*#%@, look what that guy just did...really spoiled their impending "rant" and avoided a potentially dangerous incident.

 

Sounds like you need to relieve some of the anger and stress.. Too bad I'm so far away.

Glad this didn't escalate into something bigger. Next time, I suggest you dial 911 and report it as soon as rage starts. The police know how fast this can get out of hand and will usually respond quickly. At the very least snap a pict of the plate and the people, if you can.

In all seriousness, it sounds like this dude was seriously unbalanced. I had an employer who would egg people on or find something to absolutely HATE about them when behind the wheel.. I stopped going out to lunch with him because I knew he was going to get his ass kicked one day and I didn't want to be around when he did.

 

Now THERES a keeper!!

Anthony, its better to vent here than on the road. Just let it slide. Youd did the right thing.

Last year I was riding my Ducati behind a dual-y, he kept cutting corners and kicking up rocks. I went for the pass (there are no legal passing lanes on this road, but not double yellow), and he SWERVED radically into oncoming lane to prevent my pass. Freaked me out! But I thought maybe something was in the road and I didn't see it, so after a few turns I tried again. AND HE SWERVED to hit me again! PISSED ME OFF to no end that he would use his vehicle as a weapon to prevent me from passing.

At the bottom of the road we go into a big ass argument, I was ready to kill! Good thing I didn't have a gun I would've shot the MF.

In the end I realized there are just some really screwed up people on the road, never challenge someone that wants to use their vehicle to kill you. I want to ride another day, just recognize it quickly and take the next turn in the other direction.
