I don't know what happened. I just noticed it the other day. I've put about 1200 miles on this 458 since I bought it end of May. It had annual service and ppi performed. I assume a piece of gravel did it.

Wow , gravel can do that ?

Any history as to whether the car has been tracked ?

Although a bit unsightly, the lack of any connected cracks suggests that the damage may be strictly superficial and not detrimental to performance.

That's what I was thinking. I sent the pic to the dealer and they say needs replacing. Waiting for price quote.. I will keep driving for a while and see if it gets worse.

No they do it in pair (front x 2 or back 2 x).
I've replaced all 4 of mine on my 458 so talking from experience.
The final cost, don't ask me because I get angry with myself why I just didn't convert to steel brakes

If replacing with carbon ceramic….replace with Surface Transforms discs. Way way better made carbon ceramic disc.

For what it is worth, you could also consider a used rotor. Plenty of them to go around on eBay.

Yes you could. As far as your damage....something hit the rotor edge...either a rock or someone taking the wheel on and off bumped it.

That’s a curious pic. Can you post a ‘healthy’ one next to it? There appear to be fissures closer in towards the hub. A pebble wouldn’t have damaged that by a strike- it would’ve had to get caught between the rim and disc, which you should be able to discover.

If it’s any consolation, something got caught between my inside spokes and caliper and scratched them both. The caliper scratch is pretty significant and I consider it a battle scar.

And another rim has flaking near the tire from extreme driving - like stress flaking - from
almost rolling onto the rims in high speed turns.

Oh well…….fun has its price I guess. And I can attest, it was fun…..

There is a pair of rotors available in the sales forum right now.....
I saw them just a minute ago and they are said to be at 90%

    Just an observation.

I just saw that somebody else posted the same ad.
I guess I am a day late and a dollar short.
