Actually two of them. I bought both today to compare, a Plantronics Voyager 510 and a Motorola H500. I have now joined the babbling idiots who appear to be talking to imaginary people. Maybe I should wear one in each ear? One of my colleagues thought I was talking to him in the hallway today. Too funny! Good stuff. I bought this strictly for me when I'm in my office and to combat "stand by the window-itis" for home. I hate holding a phone to my ear and pace when I talk, so this is fantastic. My car has BT built-in, so no need for it there. I'm giving the H500 to my fiancee because I like the PT better. I still make fun of people wearing them, and I never thought I'd buy one, but it's a totally addictive piece of technology. Fess up. Who else has one? RMX
I have a jabra for the my new chocolate phone. they can't get it to work though. I think they look dumb, but it really helps while driving
I heard its a great piece of technology if you actually use it, escp. when it comes to business. Can't use it due to my current hearing situation. But it's becoming a "status" symbol for some people who really don't need it (as well as the Blackberries and that) and have the need to "be cool" and feel important.
Not until 2008, but why the Hell so long? My sister uses one, kind of funny though but I don't my cell phone enough to justify getting one for myself.
I too get annoyed with people that appear to be talking to me, but in actuality talking to someone else. The irony is that I have one as well. As annoying as it can be, the advantages can outweigh the cons.
Please don't be one of those people that wear them ALL the time, like they may have an important phone call at any minute. That's just kind of weird, and it's annoying.
I feel like an idiot wearing one, but they are great. No phone flipping or fiddling required. The worst ear pieces have caller ID on them...has anyone else seen these? WTF do you need caller ID on your earpiece for...especially when you are going to be wearing it on your ear, where you cannot see who is calling. I never use it unless I have it, but a nice light weight one is great. No holding a phone, you have two hands free....genius.
Yes but you dont really see it unless your phone is in your hand and then its pointless unless your at your desk
I really cannot keep it on after my call...the resultant muffled hearing in that ear hard for me to deal with. I just have an issue with HOLDING a phone or handset to my ear and being tethered to something. I saw one of those caller ID earpieces for sale at Staples. I suspect it's for when it's not being worn and the phone is out of your line of sight. No need to go hunting for it to see who's calling. I found myself dropping the Motorola into my shirt pocket after calls yesterday. The Plantrronics may be a little big for that, I dunno. Let me use it today and see how I like it. Does anyone else have to pace around when making calls? For some reason, I think better being able to use my hands while walking around. This frees me up. I don't think I'm brave enough to remove the chair from my desk just yet. I've seen people work without desk chairs before, standing all day. I just cannot sit down and make calls. RMX
I have one that came with my phone. Sorry, haven't been able to come out of the closet, it's still neatly packed in the drawer.
I have a couple of cellphone stores, I don't use bluetooth. I have tried them all, but they are just a novelty have to continuously recharge them and they hurt after awhile. The best one out right now is the Plantronics 640 or something like that. Extremely clear, very comfortable, and can be recharged using a AAA battery or wallcharger. Otherwise, IMHO, the best thing to use is Stereo headset. They usually come with MP3 enabled phones, it feels like you are talking to the person face to face, since you can hear from both ears. That is what I use.
In reality, the more important you are the least you need people to contact you on a whim...you have "...your people..." for the mundane crap. While I like the bluetooth in my M5 so I can drive handsfree, I would never use/walk around with those earpiece/headset ridiculous looking contraptions...to me it makes you look like the lowest guy on the totem pole that has to be available 24-7... if you need me, you may just have to wait...great people are worth waiting for and on...
I was at a wedding last weekend and one of the grooms men wore their bluetooth down the isle and during the entire ceremony. Quite comical. I was wondering during the entire thing if it rings would he answer. he never got a call but that would of been neat to see. He also drove a corvette.
I have a Jabra and I love the thing. I don't wear it all the time - only when my phone rings do I put it on my ear. It's great when driving, especially when driving a manual in town. I also really like to use it when trying to do stuff on the computer.
Yeah, but "great person" or not, you have to return phone calls sometime. Better to do it comfortably. It's definitely taking some getting used to. Anyone walking down the aisle during a wedding with one of those on is a tool. Imagine how stupid he is going to look in 20 years when the family breaks out the wedding album. It's a total guarantee to remain a laughingstock for years and years to come. RMX
I won't go anywhere without mine, but I'm in outside sales. If I could find a way to get one surgically implanted I would. I need it that much. I drive a ton and am probably on my cell phone six hours a day. Just to add fuel to the fire, I just bought an unlocked Motorola a1200, it takes pictures of business cards and automatically stores the information for me.
I like the idea of the bluetooth car kits that you install in the car. You can get one with a display or without. Some let you scroll through your contacts on the little display to make calls. There are some little bluetooth R/C cars that you can control from your phone. I have not found them in person yet though.
