I was considering trading in my 70th Anniversary Giallo Tre Strati 488 GTB for a Pista. Pistas have climbed to almost 600K right now. Seems like some of this is dealers banding together to keep prices high. I've been watching Pista pricing for the last six months. I can't see paying double the price of a nice 488 GTB for a Pista. So I decided to keep my 488 GTB and got a very special Huracan Performante.

So essentially I have both of these cars for the same price as a Pista. I'm thrilled with my decision which I pondered back and forth over for the last couple months. I still believe a fair amount of Pistas were made and can't see these prices holding up forever. Who knows I could be wrong as I usually am. For now I'm over Pista envy and the $7,500 when the lithium battery conks out.

Here's some pics of the new car. Color is Verde Singh, named after Kris Singh, owner of one of the two U.S. Lamborghini Venenos. Supposed to be a gorgeous pearlescent color. Can't wait to see it.

great new ride - love the color! They are not kind to tall drivers. I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam and I feel like a circus bear riding a tricycle in them. Ferrari has the cabin figured out so much better than the Huracan/R8 cockpit.

Yeah it's that lower profile/roof line. I'm 6'2" with a 34 inseam and fit just fine. Actually have a couple of inches of headroom as I've had two Huracans already. I do have to bend my head and neck down sometimes to see a stop light. Usually I just wait for the car next to me to go first then glance to double check it's green.

it was less the roofline, although its tight! For me, it was the dead pedal and the difference between the brake and gas - the brake pedal is about an inch higher, so the lift from gas to brake always felt a little off with the cramped position. I had the dead pedal redesigned and had the brake reconfigured and it became a lot easier to drive. Gave me 2" at the dead pedal and equal footing between gas/brake positions. It was like a new car.

If that interests you feel free to PM me. I used a guy that does these kinds of mods for the local NBA team that have way bigger fitment issues that us!

Thanks for mentioning that. I've logged 30K miles between two Huracans and never noticed the brake/gas issue. I'll take note when this car arrives. What I did notice is I wish the dead pedal was a little wider. My foot never felt 100% solid on it but I got used to that.

Great stable mate and a much better proposition than a Pista imo.

can't argue with that. huracans are tons of fun and performonte has to be close to the top if not the top. enjoy!

@RoyalPink to me that is a great decision. Yeah it's hard to justify a Pista or Speciale for the prices they are advertised/sold for...especially if you, like me like to drive your cars. I seem to feel that Lambo's take less of a hit on miles than Ferrari's do. My issue with Lambo's...Mclaren too is I can't get my 6'5" into those cars. I fit OK in my F8 and fit best in 997-992 (911) Porsche's.

Enjoy...thats a great spec wild Lambo!

Looks a bit like Verde Ithaca. Your HP is so much more fun than Pista. Good job. I have a STO in Verde Citrea and really enjoy it.

Inspired choice and great spec. Oh how I miss my Performante. I had one for 4.5 years and gave it up for an STO and just never connected with it the same way I did the Performante. I’ve been casually looking for a replacement ever since, but haven’t been able to find the right one. Congratulations!

I agree on price justification. It just feels artificially high. Another upside I believe is less depreciation down the road in a Perf compared to a Pista at today's prices. I look at the Perf as the VS version of the Huracan much like 458 > Speciale and 488 > Pista. I can't wrap my head around a Perf being half the price of a Pista but I'm glad it is. It's every bit as special as a Pista if not more so in certain regards to me.

  14. Congrats on the raging bull.

    Great addition to the stable.

Not sure I could pull of a lime green Lambo though. :D

We’re off-topic on this, but have you tried a 720S? Like, really fiddled with the seat controls to max out the available head and leg room? I was pleasantly surprised that I fit in both the coupe and spider, OK, barely, but comfortable enough… and I’m a full 6’4 and 275 lbs. There was actually a tad more room than I had in my 570S coupe! Needless to say, I bought a 720 Spider…. but it certainly lacks the roominess of my 488 coupe, as per your F8.

I am too tall for the 720S. I tried back in 2019 when I bought my 488 I use to own. Getting in the 720 with that huge curved carbon sill was basically impossible. I got in the car and then my head was touching the roof. I am your height but 6'5" but 230lbs. 570-600LT's for got it way way too small inside to even get in the car.

Also all the McLarens in this local car group I'm friends with all have little problems most electric and some with hydraulic suspension. the local deal here in Tampa for McLaren is not good so my friends in Tampa have to take the McLaren to the Orlando McLaren dealer to get properly fixed.

Awesome ride! I myself have been searching for a Pista for nearly a year now. I’m looking for a specific spec, so haven’t pulled the trigger. That said, I have been monitoring the marker and the higher priced cars seem to be on the market for an extended period of time. The asking prices seem to be ambitious considering the current market conditions. Best of luck with the new bull!

    Very cool car your Lambo

I am also lusting a Pista. My god I love the 488 platform. Can’t justify the current price however.

Pista prices are definitely based on spec and mileage. The car has held its value tremendously well given market conditions. They are limited in supply and there is heavy demand. The joy of owning one is epic so i would encourage you to pull the trigger, life is short.

I like the Pista but not for 600k. To me it's worth 400k. If the price comes down I might get one someday. For now I can't wrap my head around my Urus Performante and Huracan Performante being almost the same price as a Pista. I have a 488 already which is 90% of a Pista. Truth be told I think the Performante is a more exciting car to drive then a Pista but that doesn't mean I don't want one. I do but not for 600k.

You can find high mileage/marginal spec PISTAs in the mid 400k; low mileage/well speced ones start at circa 550k and up.

I had a friend who used similar reasoning only to never get to drive the Speciale as it kept going up in price. The Pista is arguably one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful design to come from the factory in many years. It's limited availability and being a special series will always command a higher point of entry. One can certainly argue that the 296 and sf90 debacle with the hybrid engines and plummeting MSRP is all the more reason for the Pista to keep appreciating in value. The engine is visceral and sublime with the looks to match.

Also keep in mind i am biased i purchased my second Pista a month ago for $600k, had only 1600 miles and one owner with factory warranty. Love the car.

Pista are not depreciating. this is the cheapest they will ever be. just wait till the 296 special series comes out and one fully loaded is 750K with a battery. The pista has not had its Speciale moment yet. it will
