It should be noted that the installation of the doll on Toms car is improper. The doll is mounted near the centerline of the vehicle. It was discovered on 0677 that the optimum location was approx. 87MM off the centerline to optimize the polar moment thus improving the "hip performance" under cornering. For this reason I suspect that the doll was installed on Toms car at a later date and the mounting details were over looked during an early restoration of the car. This will cost points at the show and comes as a surprise that Tom overlooked this. As a judge, Tom should know better.

I use the AJ Foyt bobblehead on mine...

Whenever I ask him: "Go FASTER??" he always nods 'yes'!!!!!!!

I keep the Mears and Unser ones as 'spares'..

 

say dave big tex has an excellent point . would the differential in the concours points between say the a j foyt and the hula doll be vast or not . thus should i stay the course and stick with a genuine ferrari part as is toms with the appropriate serial number. please advise . tom is not responding . i am afraid he is determining a market price for the hula doll. also very important . should the hula doll be restored . perhaps wayne obry-- motion products . please advise

 

....ahem......the Foyt/Mears/Unser bobbleheads were a "4 time Indy Winners Set"...

And took forever to find after the fact, even though they were a weekly premium at Publix Stores when issued in Indy..

Mario WOULD be more correct on a Ferrari though, AJ rarely used his....I'll check his Vineyard Boutique and see if the 'Mario' one is in stock, anyone need some Merlot or anything???

Installation of the Foyt doll as a replacement would be akin to installing a Subaru wing on the back lid. Not an option in this case.
Toms "no response" has me worried as well, this is out of character. Start monitoring Ebay!
Wayne and crew has overcome and perfected a great many restoration challenges over the years. Is the crew up to the delicate task of removal and restoration of the irreplaceable coconut bra? Will the dye take to the 50 yr old coconut fibers? Over lunch yesterday the restoration debate was discussed with a National Level judge that will be at Cavillino. There was no clear cut answer on weather to restore or leave as is. The world is watching. Forza writers, take note!

ahhh back in 1994 + / - both mr bodin and then mr vestey had the car restored by DK in england . quite sadly during its restoration the headliner was replaced.

 

again many thanks for the conclusive proofs and explanation . thus it appears i have no options other than to obtain the rightful final pieces to the car.
i will pursue this matter with mr shaughnessy .

but once again with his sudden disappearance as you suggested ,it must be deemed that the part may wind up on ebay possibly provoking the sites single largest bidding war and ultimate record setting price that ebay has ever experienced .
