Everywhere I look, I see people waddling around with giant beer bellys, thunder thighs, fat flabby arms, and double and tripple chins. Is there a national shortage of MIRRORS that cause people to be totally oblivious to their steadily growing mass? What's up with America? Did I miss the opening of the national FLAB-A-THON that seems to have started about 10 years ago and has never stopped?

As one of those fat people, I say you are right...I saw some pictures of myeslf and nearly puked. I had a stroke in 1996 followed by a series of heart attacks...my ability to exercise was greatly limited and I have gained 70 pounds since then. I hate the way I look, I hate having to buy clothing at the tent store and most of all, I hate not being able to lose the weight...I am eating less than I did before the stroke...

That could be classified as a "defensive" post.

Edit: BTW, hypertension, hypercholesterol and type 2 DM induced by obesity does help make the health care system go 'round; no pun intended.

No problem because I'm probably the only person on F-chat who actually possesses an original

i just went from 175 and cycling everyday to 201 8 months later, no cycling in all that time, but increased my martial arts workouts. i made some 'home movies' and man, I look bad. I have tried a ton of things in addition to my nightly walks that I have done for 10 years now. I can't get it off. I am 32, 5'11" 201lbs

i just bought another bike, i'll risk skin cancer, not obesity

This is going to sound mean, but...

The gym I go to has a very high number of overweight fitness trainers. It's mindboggling. Here they are telling people how to get in shape all the while looking like 10 lbs of meat stuffed in to a 5 lb spandex sac. Are there discriminatory laws at work here? I don't know how people take them seriously.

    maybe they're just 'off-season.' :p

You'll know there's discriminatory laws working when there's a trainer who's a blind, Hispanic, Hare Krishna woman in a wheelchair.

I also dont get how people get allow themselves to get so big, maybe huge is a better word. I run a lot so I am in pretty good shape and I also have a fast metabolism, which always helps. But I cant begin to comprehend why people do this to themselves.
