Could this be over inflation? I've seen pressures in my tires rise over 15lbs when driving at high speeds for long distances over HOT highways (Arizona in the summer). I'm a big proponent of airing your tires after you've put some heat into them. The Max air pressure on the side is just that. The MAX. During one trip I'd aired up 8psi below the max as I like to get a little extra mile or two on the MPG (this does help) and pulled over an hour and a half later for an unexpected bathroom stop and checked my pressures. That's when I'd realized they'd jumped a little over 15psi! Outside temp was well over 100deg and I'm sure the asphalt temp was much, much more than that. Needless to say they were over the max pressure. I adjusted them then checked at my next gas stop when I’d originally planned on checking them. They were all about 1psi from where I'd adjusted them.

NA, as a race shop owner do you not use nitrogen in your street tires as well? When I used to turn wrenches it was standard use on our race cars (as was adjusting pressures after they got heated) and I'd use it on my street cars at the time as well. For those who don't know Nitrogen is a very stable gas that doesn't increase in pressure (too much) when heated. Air has a lot of different gasses in it that react (expand) differently when heated.

Dude, thats a bad blowout. I knew there was a reason I run Yokohamas on 3 of 4 of my cars. AVS ES100s lately. Never had a blowout on a Yoko in 15 years on the road or autocross -even when they were cracked & worn to tread bar. Will you change tires now?

lol don't be confused what I own is not a race shop. All I do is sell parts at discounted prices big difference.

I think I found out what it was, I took the car out last night and my first shop was to the gas station and the other 3 tires were only at 15-20psi so I believe it was underinflated for some time. I've taken this as a major lesson and now I check my tire pressure everytime I leave the house.

    Dane,

I was blasting Radar Love so I didn't hear anything. I just noticed the right getting really bumpy and then the car started pulling a little to the right.

    Regards,
    Kevin

    !!!!

Who was the jackass that suggested suing Pirelli? Kevin, I'd write Pirelli a letter of THANKS for saving your ass! :)

PS: does the car sit for days/weeks at a time? Tires leak if they're not driven on rather regularily.

The car is actually my daily driver, I drive it about 3,000 miles/month. I replaced the tire with another Pirelli, I have no problems with Pirelli, great tire, I'm not blaming this on them at all at this point.
