What's goin' on here? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-Ferrari-Testarossa-12-OOO-US_W0QQitemZ280095747115QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280095747115
Sucker!!! I'll bet: There is no car (who knows where the pictures are from). When you email to be "allowed to bid" you get a song and dance that sounds like a variation of the Nigerian shell game. I've seen these many times, I wonder how Ebay can just let this crap exist on their watch.
His whole spiel smells like something I accidentally stepped in. On closer look, it's $12K, not $12.00. Still, why would you sell a car like that for so cheap unless it's not your car, or you don't actually have it at all?
Won't happen. Even if Ebay catches on, he'll just have his account deactivated. In a couple of months he'll start a new account with more hijacked pics and a super low price and the game will be on again.
I contacted the local police in Paragould, AR just momemts ago.............. I figured if there was a TR in this sleepy little community they would "notice"! Low and behold they know of no such vehicle, no familiarity with a Martin Zolt and there are no car lots that are in the area where "upscale" vehicles are sold or displayed.....are we surprised!!!!! If it sounds to good to be true it IS................ I emailed the seller from a public computer also and stated I had cash and would be in the Little Rock, AR area in couple of days and requested contact info................let's see what happens................Kerry
Well there ya go.........My dreams of a 1990 Black with Beige TR for a mere $12000 has been taken away..........Maybe he'll still contact me (I said I had cash) and I will be a 2 Ferrari owner............LOL Hey, could be that the police officer I spoke to in Paragould, AR was in on it and decided to get out of the scam since I called and questioned them about it!!..........................Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
The seller DID respond......with BULL****....I find it hard to believe that there are people in this world that think this is REAL....obviously, there must be a multitude of desperate and gullible people out there ,otherwise these would not continue to be seen.....very sad..... Here is the response I recieved.......... ----- Original Message ----- From: Martin Zolt To: Kerry Wittig Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 11:29 AM Subject: Re: Testarossa info needed Hi, I know that you have many choices on eBay and I appreciate that you contacted me.Although I am registered in the US, but I recently moved in PORTUGAL (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here. The car is in a perfect cosmetic and engine conditions, and meticulously maintained. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, the engine doesn't smoke, runs and sounds awesome, the engine has never been repaired or something like that, never been into accidents and it is as advertised. The car is registered in United States and it has clear title. You will get from me the keys the title and all documents to register the car in US, and also a bill of sale in your name and signed by me. I bought this car from US but when i tried to register it here in PORTUGAL they said that i can't register it because is a US vehicle and we have to do serious engine modifications in order to comply with the EU emission standards. As I have said before, it is an US model (which complies with the US emission standards) and Europe regulations are different from these ones.I want to sell it in US because the car is still registered there. The price is low because here in PORTUGAL nobody wants to buy it and so instead of keeping it in garage I decided to sell it to someone back in the US. If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund, upon the return of the item in original condition (return postage at my expense). It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered at your front door in maximum 2 weeks. Final price is $ 12,000.00 (this price includes the shipping and insurance). I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will be manage by Ebay,in this way both of us will be protected. So if you really want it please give me an email Thank you!
....ask this dirtball exactly where he lives in portugal and that you have family all over there. one of them can come over and see the car before it's sent to the U.S. - ....call Interpol on this scumbag. what a load of garbage! schemers like this guy should be put in jail ... especially since we know how many gullible fools are out that that may actually bite on this "deal".
When something looks too good......................................... WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! BS ALARM!!!!!!! Serious Walletectomy Alert!!! Even being curious and checking into it puts you at identity theft risk. Now they have an Email address from someone who might have a little money. "Martin Zolt" may come back later when you don't expect him on a "phishing" expedition. Make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware software is working.
Public Computer and internet connection used as well as a public "alias" email addy in use.............But to be quite honest.........What the Hell......bring it on!!! Never know when I might just lose it and decide to go to the Portugese GP on an alcohol induced whim....of course Zolt is in UK/Nigeria/Bolivia.......WTF To be serious for a moment: Such a sad commentary of the human decay that exsists in our world! So hey Zolt.......... Image Unavailable, Please Login
What US spec car would require major modification to meet EU emmision standards??? How stupid does he think you are?
those scams are everywhere, not just on ebay. This is the another similar email I received when I inquired about a car listed on www.craigslist.com Hi , The car is still for sale , it is in perfect condition,no accidents , no dents .The title is clear .I have to tell you that now i live in Sweden so the car is with me and i have to sell it because i can't register the car here it does not have the Euro 4 on it and it's made only for the US market with the US specs that only can be used there. The shipping is free because I have someone who works for a shipping company and he is abble to help me. The car is still registered in States (which means that you will not have to pay any duty taxes). I think that the best way to finish this deal is trough a third party which means that they will keep the money until you receive and inspect the car. The asking price for my car 1998 Toyota RAV4 is: usd 3900 Serena.
For some reason these scams have increased by like 1000x in the past month. There are so many of them now, it has just about destroyed using ebay as a way to keep tabs on the market. I was searching for Triumph auctions the other day and at least half the listings were these scams.
