Why did Ferrari choose to use a French title, instead of an Italian title, for the new car ??

Is it that "Il Ferrari" just doesn't roll off the tongue as well, or what ??

EDIT ---- I just have been informed that "la" is proper Italian for feminine words beginning with a consonant..... I did not know that :)

as i told you all in an earlier thread, in italian when they put the 'la' in front of the word, it denotes the object as the 'epitome of' . hence the name.

yes, i also think its stupid. but i know why they did it. it also has something to do with jim's p 4/5, but he has told that story on here already as well.

I've come to accept it and happily call the car by it's name. Now its no different to me than 458, Testarossa, Enzo or any other moniker. Clumsy name to be sure, but what's done is done. The car gives me goosebumps just looking at it. La Ferrari indeed!

    Yes and no.

"La" is simply the feminine form of "the" in Italian. Therefore, "La Ferrari" simply means "the Ferrari."

Except that, as you rightly pointed out, it is to be read as "THE Ferrari" in this context as the car is meant to epitomize what Ferrari stands for.
