I gross $210k/year. I'm married with 3 kids. I have 3 "normal" cars that are paid off. I have 0 debt other than a $2k/month mortgage. Why does it scare the **** out of me to splurge a little and get an older 355? I have owned 3 NSX's. Each of which I sold after about 1 year of ownership due to guilt. Is it wrong to spoil myself? I browse through ebay and autotrader almost on a daily basis for a 355. I make half-ass bids on cars that I know I won't even hit reserve on. Am I just being a responsible husand and father or do I need to grow some balls?

I knew I'd get this. It was divulged so you can better answer my question as to whether a Ferrari purchase is wise. Besides... nobody here knows me in person... I think.
Hey nothing the matter with having nice things as long as you keep a balance about you. Its material (cars, etc) Putting first things first like your family, making sure of whats important your being smart with what you have earned is what matters. If you feel those things are in order then go for it. Who cars what others think as long as your the same. I felt somewhat like you did several years ago, pretty good living....you know I put my pants on the same as everyone else but affraid to take a bigger step. So werethinking about building a bigger home and I am kinda worried and have some guilt. So I have a pastor over whom is a good friend and get some council from him. He looks me in the face and says are you nuts "build it, I know who you are and what your about, if someone has a prob. with that or thinks otherwise then thats their problem not yours ". So go find yourself a 355 and enjoy !!!
That does NOT suck! If I had the money I wouldn't be talking about it. Just do it you will not regret it........
you sold 3 NSX's!!!!! YOU ARE CRAZY!!! 1. buy a 355 2. get another NSX...you need something to drive when the Ferrari breaks 3. stop listening to your wife 4. DRIVE!!!!! 5. repeat step 4
You would even be happy with an old carb'd 308, like mine! I don't care what those hoity-toity guys with their newer QV's say! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Food, shelter, clothing, health care....these are essentials; things everyone has and nobody will give you grief for owning. As much as we like to joke about it, the complete opposite end of our realistic "needs" spectrum is an exotic sports car. It makes all the sense in the world to hesitate and question your decision....it just shows that you're responsible and thinking things through, that's why you have zero debt and own your cars...don't ever be ashamed of that or let anyone make you feel lesser a person cause you can't blow big coin without a second thought. Without that instinct you wouldn't be where you are today! I don't know much about NSX's...but if you sold them due to guilt, then you'd likely sell the 355 just as quickly...so maybe this isn't the right car for you if this truly is the case. I too had my hesitations, but I don't regret my purchase. For what it's worth, most all Ferrari owners truly believe their purchase was well worth the money...I'm quite confident you'll be very happy too. Last thought: when you go on a vacation you have only memories and, if you're lucky, some exotic sexually transmitted disease ....but you don't have anything per se to show for it. The 355, if bought "right" will retain a reasonable value for some many years....it's not like you're throwing all your money away. The 355 I bought 1 year ago is still worth about what I paid for it. Had I bought the Jaguar, BMW or Mercedes....I'd surely have taken a loss. Don't think of it as an investment, but know you may not take a huge loss...especially if you buy in Winter and sell in Spring! There's a LOT of guys moving into used 360's, lots of 355's available for you....take your time and ALWAYS get a PPI, no exceptions!!!!
