Going from the original post, maybe you need to get in touch with the joy of driving again. Get a much rawer car like a 360 cs, 430 scud or even a 599 gto (assuming budget). Or get an early 911 and build it up to be very focused. Too much leather and comfort can make you go soft;)

unfortunately nothing heard since.... I think a lot of us are waiting for the next no- computers- basic maintenance- driver centered Ferrari Dino. If so, let's hope it is more appealing than appalling...

Let the youngsters start a facebook campaign ! :)

    Cheers,

The youngsters already got their driver-centric fun car with the Subaru BR-Z/Toyota FR-S. Hell, a good friend of mine got rid of his 2012 Superleggera for a BR-Z and a new M5.

LOL!!! If we had a Post Of The Month, as well as a Thread Of The Month, then that would probably win. :D

    Many thanks,

So the truth finally comes out. After 6 new cars, you had enough of reselling and getting a new one to save and keep your money protected.

You knew that keeping the new model longer you would lose a lot of your investment in the car,and the quality, and fun factor was just not with it after a year of ownership.

What is that old saying "the juice is in the squeeze " - these new cars didn't have the juice.

Go back to the classic car like the 512bb and join the Ferrari connoisseur club :)

    Problem solved :D

Calm down kid,no one is forcing you to be on this particular thread, you don't like it go somewhere else.
Fchat is big and there are enough threads about how great F12 (or FF or 458 or ....) is ,
so you can read and post what you enjoy.
    Now get lost.....

I agree with the Mayor (& many, many other's on F chat)talking about their experiences with Ferrari's lack of build quality. The November 2013 issue of Road & Track has a drive comparison between a Ferrari F12 ($323.338.00),and a Lamborghini Aventador ($404,195.00). Driving the 2 cars the tester's stated; but a few miles southwest of Maranello, shortly after the F12's dash lights displays the comforting words "electrical system failure", and ; The Ferrari might have faltered with its dashboard warnings, but the Lamborghini in throws in the towel first, telling us there's a fault with its engine start/stop system. It has the stop bit nailed. Start is now proving more troublesome to start". At least the Mayor has a dealer nearby, for most of the people in the U.S., the nearest dealer is hundreds of miles away, and as the factories seem on a binge to see who can build the most utterly complex cars, they will become more, and more of a nightmare to maintain.

I think Bob is reflecting some of the same issues that Jay Leno has voiced. The cars are great, wonderful, and yet quirky sometimes too. It is some of the dealers and the aloof lack of support from Ferrari that is troublesome with cars of this pedigree. Just like Enzo himself, they need to develop a much better understanding of the terms "customer service."

If I did not have the means/skills to repair anything on my 355 F-Car I would not own one. 30+ years in the auto industry I have seen every snotty ass dealer attitude I stay away from them which is the pot calling the kettle black as I was a dealer for 20 years. When I go to a dealer even Scion I want gold treatment no matter what my budget is
I just want an easy to work on convertible thats fun. If I want power I'll drive my Diesel Pickup set on "performance" mode

ChipBiii, hits the nail on the head about too many Ferrari (AND other highline dealership's) and their attitude about customer care, " take it or leave it", and if you don't like our crappy dealer service, you can leave!

I've had 4 different types of Ferrari (330GTC, 365BB, 550 Maranello and 458 Italia) in the past 6 years and I've driven almost 100,000kms in them combined.

I've been over the moon with all of them. People can perhaps say that I'm too forgiving or wear rose-tinted glasses. But honestly I do not see how they differ in reliability from my other car experiences. Once my classics were treated by the right mechanic, they started everytime. None have ever failed to bring me home, and I should point out I've done 6,000km+ trips in my classics. As for the image - that's irritating sometimes. I've been pulled off by the cops in Germany 4 times (under the speed limit, no traffic violation, just to check papers), each time taking more than half an hour. It is irritating. But in no way does it make me want to sell my car. And don't forget - you get some more negative reactions and you have to think about where you park the car, but you get AMAZING reactions that make a dull day into one of bright sunshine. That is worth a lot too.

I love my 458. It has been very reliable, no squeeks, noises or other stuff. 18,600 kms in 16 months, of which some on the track (Spa Francorchamps, old Nurburgring, Zandvoort) and she's been truly special (particularly on the limit - I LOVE the 458 on a fast track, she is just so communicative). I do have to say that if I drove the 458 only to 55mph, it would bore me a bit too. No, that's not true. I would be bored STIFF! It is not what the 458 is about. But I dream about my laps at Spa and Nurburgring. An experience I will never forget. And if you don't live in a country where you can do that, or don't want to take it to the track, then take a classic Ferrari on a good road and enjoy life at a slower pace. I think blaming the brand doesn't make any sense. Every single Ferrari I've driven on the limit (330GTC, 365BB, 550 Maranello, 458 Italia, 430 Scuderia) has made me a better driver, in a different way. I don't know any brand where each model is so different. I love Ferrari for that. At least they are not scared to design something new.

So, frankly, I have no idea what The Mayor is on about, blaming the brand as a whole. I just enjoy driving them.

Some dealerships, ok most, are like that, but I get the same treatment at my BMW and my Porsche dealership. So why blame Ferrari as a brand? I don't think you get anything better at Aston Martin, Jaguar, McLaren, Bentley or whatever as a brand. It might just be that the dealership where you're buying it is better, but if you bought the same car at a different place you would be having the same problem.

Find yourself a good independent for your Ferrari and all that stuff goes out the window. It is perfectly possible to own a Ferrari without having hassles with the maintenance. I know, because that is the world I live in.

I don't know - perhaps owning a Ferrari in the USA is indeed like crawling on crushed glass in shorts. In Europe, I can tell you it doesn't need to be like that.

To the Mayor, these are just cars, plain and simple, no matter what Marque they are. When we die we can't take them with us; so the point is how much you enjoy what you have. If you no longer enjoy what you have then OK, who can fault you for that. You are fortunate to have many choices available..enjoy life while you can.

I live in S. Cal, I'm 57, have a 3 pedal 355 spider ( have owned many different types/flavors of autos over the years) and truly enjoy my 355 driving/ownership experience and am not considering any other F car for the foreseeable future .

You're talking about someone who has 37,000 posts on this single internet forum since 2008. Do a little math and let that sink in. That is a whole lot of complaining!

You've been warned (and banned) before about meaningless trolling posts towards other members and also TheMayor in particular. Please desist.

Edit: In addition to the posts mentioned by joker57676 and GuyIncognito (below) in other sections, I've just found these posts earlier in this thread:

I'm applying a 1-month ban. Please be more amicable upon your return, we appreciate friendly banter but not viscous attacks.

    Regards,

bob, if you are still reading this thread, here is my 2 cents.

first, i understand where you are coming from. have had similar thoughts in the past.
secondly, i dont think any of the other foreign sports cars are going to do the trick for all the things you are wounded by.
thirdly, if you are still looking for something with sport in it without the vintage hassle, then my advice is the new vette.
fourth, if you are looking for comfort, sportiness, and anonymity, i would advise the caddy cts-v.
