Uh.. a runway that shares access with a race track? And the FAA approved this?

Great for cars, but I wouldn't take an aircraft anywhere near that FOD nightmare.

yup, theres been a couple of these popping up all over the country. I dont think its for me. Imagine trying to go to sleep at 4 in the morning while your meathead neighbor is testing out his straightpipes in his garage.

Here's the latest from Alpine in the Pocono's, just emailed them today:

First I'd like to thank you for your continuing interest in Alpine!

As we've reported, Alpine expects is to receive its final PA-DEP Permit
later this spring. The NPDES Permit (National Pollution Discharge
Elimination System) was actually in our hands two years ago but a small
protestant group appealed the permit issuance to the Pennsylvania
Environmental Hearing Board where a Judge (Michael Krancer) ruled against
PA-DEP (not Alpine) that the Department did not follow their own protocols
    in issuing the permit.

We've been working with PA-DEP since September 2006 and have now perfected
the permit application, which was submitted in February 2007. If all goes
well we could start building the Club later this year with an opening next
year. I know this has been a long process...but we can't force the PA
bureaucrats to move at anything close to "track speed"!

Your continuing interest and support is truly appreciated and I can only ask
that you remain patient with us while you enjoy your great cars. One of my
personal goals is to make it all worth the waiting-time for our Club
    Members.

In the meantime, JB, we are here at the Clubhouse 6 days/week, Monday
through Saturday, and would be delighted to take you on a tour! If these
days don't work out with your schedule, we'll be here on a Sunday for you.
I look forward to hearing from you!
