I was checking out some of the team sites, I felt bad for Midland, so I registered as a "fan". Now I constantly get email updates from the team with little to say. It's kind of cute, really, their enthusiasm and all. Apparently their web operator was their best hire.

You're not kidding...their website is pretty straightfoward. Unlike Red Bull or STR or whatever that always makes my browser hang, makes you wait (BMW), aloof (Ferrari, McLaren), noisy (Renault), booorrrinnggg (Toyota), irrelevant (Honda)......etc etc.

^Ditto on the BMW, I don't even visit it anymore because of the wait. They send me an e-mail every couple weeks reminding me of an upcoming GP.

I always thought Sauber had the worst website and fan support. Interesting to read these comments.

Europeans are so bad at merchandising.

this is the kind of words I hate to see on a forum...
Don't be so general and negative, we do not have the same view, that's all.
The society based on consumption you're so proud of, is indeed the paradise of merchandising and leave many doors open for excess... :)

I must by the way agree that the website of Sauber is probably the worst in F1 teams !

Just for the record: I am Swiss and lived half my life in Europe, so I kinda know the drill and it is not impressive. Any temporary or permanent exhibit in the US leads the visitors automatically through a gift shop full of merchandise. Not so in Europe.

As a big von Daeniken fan I visited his permanent theme park in Interlaken last year yet couldnt find a single book about the park in its own gift shop.

Just visited the temp Sauber exhibit in Lucerne and guess what: Two old books and some old models were all they had there.

OTOH when in Spa I was able to purchase F1 memorabilia year round from the local grocery shop, so maybe it is merely the Swiss who havent realized the selling potential of their attractions. :)
