I believe so - IIRC, didn't Ferrari get their wrists slapped for "cooperating" with Peugeot (?) a while back? Seem to remember some other teams yelled "foul" and it all went quiet..... Furthermore, they'd have to be a completely separate operation - I don't think anyone's got those kind of resources.

Thx to Tillman for the picture - It appears that the gearbox casing got bigger - Not a 20million Euro development IMHO :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Given the less than stellar performance of their 09 car keeping it six feet under is more like it;)
Before the season McLaren were making big claims about their simulator, less so now. There is no substitute for track testing yet.

That is already occuring due to something called Computational Fluid Dynamics. Basically its a virtual wind tunnel. This allows for a lot faster development of new aero parts. Then the teams are able to narrow down ideas and manufacture and test fewer choices in the wind tunnel. I believe BMW.Sauber.F1 were the one of the first to utilize CFD in F1 thanks to a partnership with Intel who assisted in developing one of the most powerful super computers in Europe.
