I took a French Dino enthusiast for a drive in 2008 after meeting him on the plane from Europe to LA, and his comments will warm the heart of all Dino owners.

"The music of the engine is fabulous......fabulous." Etc. Listen to what he has to say. :)

It is interesting that as he filmed he tended to keep the instrument binnacle in view, which was good. Most people tend to just point it straight out the windshield, which makes for a less interesting frame.

Your engine really sounds good. It sounds better than a normal stock Dino from inside the cabin, which brings up the question: What modifications have you done to the intake and exhaust system?
Your avatar photo seems to indicate a raised engine decklid. Is your car equipped with Stratos carburetors and intake manifold? Any intake silencer or just a foam filter? Is the exhaust system stock or aftermarket, Tubi or similar?

Yes, it has a Stratos manifold and IDF carbs. The air filter is a round paper element type.
The exhaust system is stock Ansa

I'm not at home now so I can't post a photo of the intake system, but there's nothing between the carb velocity stacks and my ear but the thin paper and the rear window.

The great sound is why I have no interest in reverting to the stock induction system, even though I have the parts.

Also, these carbs do not starve for fuel and cut power during a long left turn like the DCNF's do.

    Thanks!

I currently have a black filter on rather than the Fram orange, as I thought it looked a bit garish.

Coop, thanks for providing that link. A very interesting thread, which I would have missed completely otherwise. It was published well before I had discovered fchat, and sometimes searches do not get me to the right places.

Jim, that explains the sweet sound of your engine. Very nice looking solution with the air filter too! I can understand why you keep this setup on the car. That fuel starvation on sharp left turns with the stock carburetors is a pretty disgraceful design flaw which should never have been allowed in the original design.
I also belive that the Stratos carbs provide a genuine power advantage, even though nobody seems to be able to document it. Anyway, all very interesting material. Thanks for the info.

You would have to have 2 engines that were otherwise identical on the same dyno-- unlikely to ever happen.

My understanding is that a longer distance between the throttle plates / venturis and the valves tunes the intake system for more power at lower revs. The stock system is so short it may be optimized for an rpm above the redline of the engine.

To compare the engines you would have to compare "the area under the curves", not just peak HP.
In other words, the car with the Stratos induction system should pull away from the stock car under acceleration, even if the dyno peak HP were the same, because the Stratos car is making more power over more of the rev range.

nice to see someone realised that this engine realy need bigger carburettor, the sound this carbrettor produce is far better than the small dcnf, and it also give more torque and topp speed

Driving for the sake of driving, with no place in particular to go - same thing I do with the Boxer.

Love the view over the fender curves.
