No reason to bid on it if you are local. Go look at the car and work a deal if you want it. I would avoid ebay. From the questions on the bottom it sounds like he will disclose the reserve so work a deal based on a PPI and go from there. If he is not willing to end the auction based on a PPI than you will have to make the choice if one is needed or not. Looks like a clean car. Good luck.

    +1

eBay is used a lot to promote cars. Deals happen offline as often as not.

One downside for most buyers are the racing seats. If you like them, make sure it is the right size. Most people don't like racing seats and ask any dealer that sells these cars and they will tell you racing seats are tough on resale. If you like them, great. Just remember when you go to resell, the seats are a negative to most buyers. It looks like a135K car retail max.

What factor did you use to determine the 135k price?

Your statement held more water a few years ago. Racing seats have become more desirable, (especially to those who appreciate a 3rd. pedal) and I don't believe it will hurt future resale.

Average miles for an '02 Ferrari, not high or not low. I think a yellow spider as equipped is in that range. To me it is always =/- 3-5K depending on how it checks out. I still believe racings seats are a deduct IMHO.

I think the test of racing seats, when they were available in the US, was the much fewer new F cars that were spec'ed out with racing seats. Most new buyers just didn't want them and preferred the electric seats with maybe Daytona's. Remember that overall only a small percentage of spider owners take them to the track. I think most owners leave them in the garage just to look at them, SAD!!! I am also one who likes a third pedal, but that seems to be only 10% of production.

    yvr4me,
based on your location field I see you aren't local to the car. Since I am however, I'd be happy to pick it up for ya and drive it to your house! ;)

Good luck and let us know how the whole thing turns out. Looks like a nice one.

I have seen the car in person and am very familiar with it.

I'm curious if an F chat member bought the car? If you have any specific q's, shoot me a pm and I'd be glad to answer.

There were a couple of little things that turned me off (which is why I didn't buy it) but I'm probably as picky of a car enthusiast as you'll find. Overall, a very nice car.

I don't think the ebay ad showed a close up, but there was a false shelf built into the front trunk to house some aftermarket stereo equipment (amp, fan, radar jamming unit, and fuses). It was carpeted, blended in well with the black trunk, and very hard to notice in picts. I've attached a picutre, you'll see a ventilation cover, that's part of it.

I removed the accessible cover off of it to take a peek at what was hiding in there. Basically, a mess of aftermarket wires, looked like a novice stereo installer, the wood seams where the "Box" was built was cracked, wood screws holding it together looked crooked and off center, and the wiring, intertwined like a rats nest, a fan for cooling the amp was dangling (not fastend to anythying). Hard to believe on this caliber of car but a really poor job.

I think the missing tool kit and misc stuff front the trunk was removed for this stereo project, and never got put back into the car.

The reason I'm pretty nit picky with this stuff, is when I bought my M5, it had a poor install performed by a prevoius owner. It's super hard to trace and troubleshoot issues once you start with this kind of shortcut. I had to have everything torn out, reinstalled the right way, wire tied, wires bunlded neatly, the box built like a cabinet should be, ect...

The ebay ad of course says nothing about this. It really pays to buy a car from someone who has taken care of it.

Doing a search and stumbled over this older thread....

Just an update for those in the Portland area, this is at Gran Prix right now -
    http://www.inventory.gpimports.com/detail-2002-ferrari-360_modena-spider-2550768.html

The funny thing is that I drove it about a month ago right as they received it. Super tight car; only wished it were red.... and about $25k less. ;)

If you are looking for one of these though, I'd check it out.

Is 52brezelfenster right at the car electrical wires is a problem?
