What do you Ozzies think of the U. S. of A. Grand Prix as put on by Formula One?

    Only drive 12 cylinders

I thought it was great - at least Ferrari finally got a win this season. :D

Its a shame what happened, but I don't really see what viable solution there was to fix it before the race.

Put it this way, if I were there, I'd want my money back. If they chose to run it the following year, I'd stay home and watch it on television. Michelin screwed up, but as others have said, an appropriate solution could have been implemented to ensure that the Michelin teams could run, at least for the sake of the paying public.

In some ways what this brought into perspective is the contrast between a real race event and the circus F1 has become. At any regular race event, unexpected things happen and you shrug your shoulders and get on with it. Todays F1 events are paid for by about 95% hanger-ons who have no real interest in the cars or the racing and have to get 'their moneys worth'. Sure, I'd be mighty pixxed if I'd spent a fortune travelling miles and spending hundreds of dollars on tickets, but F1 is a bit of a lottery anytime. I've gone home from Melbourne cheesed about the lack of 'racing' (2004? I think) but then there were the fabulous times like Suzuka 1989 (Senna v Prost will live in my memory forever) so I think the real tifosi (in F1 not just Ferrari terms) will get over it. If it keeps the 'other' fans away, I'd count that a benefit!

Michelins mistake , 7 teams don't run , end of story. No other option. As for the GP at indy , I think you can't mix part oval with part infield race track . Isn't the car handicapped in the infield because of car set up for the oval section? Very disappointing to see 'fans' ? throw bottles etc onto the track when the cars running on brigestones had no issues. Pretty dumb and should be banned for life.

    rock on

I agree, throwing projectiles on the track was incredibly reckless and stupid. As for banning them, I don't think those particular 'fans' are in too much of a rush to attend another F1 race, if you know what I mean!!!

How many support events does the USGP have?

Lets face it over the 4 days of an “F1 weekend” outside of the actual GP the F1 cars are hardly on the track.

The big bonus Melbourne has is that there is always something happening. Can you imagine the Melbourne GP without support events like the V8’s, etc. Except for Sunday no one would turn up.

It’s my understanding that the local promoter is responsible for organising the support events?

Bart good too see that you are still alive and well.

please ask bernie if the f1 circus is still as popular as ever, considering the biggest promotional market on the planet got rogered up the Kyber pass. and the season was starting to look mmore boring, and too all the anti adelaide GP jokers, at least we put on an event.

errr, so does Melb dude...just not as good as Sadelaide IMHO, I miss the pink bus with all the near naked girls :D

You ought to come up the Coast for the Indy race, we don't give a **** if they race or not so long as the girls turn up :D

and as for the class action crapola, I think we shouldsue the Indy guys for doing the race a few yearas ago behind the safety car because it was raining !!!! ffs what a bunch of girls..no offense Kerrari, you would have killed them because at least you would have wanted to go racing

i've been to indy in your undies, the t!ts parade in between races on the sat was a hoot,

but F1 is rooted, the whole year has been a shambles, there is nothing more exciting than seeing 16 people stand around a car just to siphon in some BP ultimate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this season has been one of the best in recent times, at least there has been some racing and a variety of results - not just domination by Schumi (as good as that is). :)

yep we all know the dominance over the last few years, but if the others are not up to speed....boo hoo, but really how many mecahincs does it take to fill up on shell optimax. And to think that F1 wanted us to believe that by doing its tyre thing year of having a set of tyres last practice/qual/qual/race/gohome/ and this will revolutionize the tyre technology ....yeah right, michelin just proved beyond reasonable doubt that it cannot even get onto the park,
