    Move.

I did. From Cleveland to San Diego. Never again will I drive a front wheel drive econobox that's rusted up to the door handles.

Made it that much sweeter to live out here. Course its so stinkin expensive that your car budget gets crushed. And the traffic makes you want an automatic. And insurance sucks. Cars cost more out here, and every high school kid has a Porsche.

Man, wish I lived in the midwest. ;-)

LA really is an awesome place for car watching that's for sure. The weather (for the most part) is great. I love to visit LA. I lived there for five years. But as the previous posters mentioned - it's not what's it's craked up to be.

Traffic is the worse period. I've been in just about every major city and nothing can compare to LA. Rush hour in DC, NY maybe similar, but in LA the traffic can happen at anytime without reason.

People are a bit off in LA. You're surrounded by a ton of people who wish they were actors, not because they enjoy acting, but because they want to be famous and self-centered like everyone else in Hollywood.

I have an office in Santa Monica, and without question I will see at least one exotic walking to lunch. I think there are more 360s there then Mustangs.

    Come on, seriously.

Smog: Not at like like it's hyped to be.

Crime: Sure, if you live in a ghetto.

Jam packed freeways 24/7: Not true. Usually only during "rush hour."

Everyone is in a hurry to get some place: True, but also true of most major metropolitan cities.

Desert like climate: Not true. Warmer than San Fran? Sure. Less fog/rain than San Fran? Sure. "Desert-like?" Not even close. I know because, after decades of living in L.A., I now live in a true "desert-like" climate.

Pretenders: Ok. You got me there!

You're right Jerry, Miami's the place to be. Not only do you see Ferrari, but just about any other exotic you can think of. And the women are just as exotic, I travel to LA often and you can't compare to us here in Miami, particularly the women.

Actually, you don't wish you lived there. I lived iun Westwood and Beverly Hills for 4 years out of UCSB. Now Santa Barbara, where I went to school, now your talking!
L.A is sure fun but never would I want to live there. Just not for me. I am from the beautiful NW where a guy can breath clean air and see for miles. Along with many other huge advantages, just spoiled I guess. LA doesn't have the nicest people, everyone it seems is hurry hurry hurry, smog from hell, traffic nightmare, expensive, tons of broke depressed people. Now if you made $500,000 plus a year then maybe.

well I kind of like having Ferrari's actually exotic unlike they are in LA (i'm guessing since I've never been there)
but in dayton ohio, they are a little too exotic for my liking
maybe cincinnati would be better or indianapolis
there are some places in the midwest that aren't so bad

There is no need for the hype; every time I fly into LA I can see the nasty layer of smog hanging just above the city. I agree it’s not like Mexico City but it gets so bad on bad days some people are advised not to leave home.

I have many friends in LA and we visit quite a bit, does not matter where you park your car, there is always a good possibility that it won't be there when you come back for it. I know people who work in downtown and won't drive through unless they're packing a piece for protection.

I have never seen 405 Freeway (just an example) not packed! Don't get me wrong around rush hours, which is much more extended than other cities there are sig alerts (and LA term, freeway parking lot). In other times traffic moves pretty good but in an ant colony fashion.

The climate has very warm days and cold nights although closer to the beach cities climate is more moderate and the change in temperature is less pronounced. If it wasn't for the cool ocean breeze the weather and smog would become deadly combination. Almost all of the greeneries are man made and irrigated, no irrigation no green space.

I don’t mean to brag about the bay area but I guess we are a bit spoiled up here...everywhere you wanna go is a 30 minute or less drive. City is the center of entertainment and commerce. You never feel intimidated to walk around after hours even around south of market and tender loin much less packing a piece for protection.

There's a bunch of reasons to live in LA but Ferrari's aren't one of them. The midwest may suck in many respects but we have lots of GREAT roads to drive, WAY less traffic to fight with, plus driving a Ferrari in most of the midwest where you NEVER hardly see any F cars is WAY cooler than driving a nice new shiney one in LA where you see them all the time.

412 you've got to be kidding. Each time I've visited my sister in San Fran I can't help but notice the nightmare of traffic I'm in. There are too many people just everywhere and leaving seems to be the only escape. I will say that it is a more aesthetically pleasing city to look at but as for being safer and less crowded. No. Each and every time I feel like I'm back in NYC dodging mentally ill people and bohemian nuts.

Packing a piece to go to downtown LA? Not necessary. Recently at the LA autoshow I noticed luxury cars of all types parked on the streets and not in the expensive lots. No one was nervous walking to or from their cars and they were where we put them when we got back.

I'd sooner carry a weapon driving across "Rivertucky" (Riverside)or "San Bernabama" than worry about walking a street at night in Los Angeles.

I think you wan't the image that you have been sold on TV. I lived in CA for two years, when I first got there it was like picking up that pretty girl at closing time. A little while later now awake and sober, I wan't to chew my arm off so I don't wake this monster up. Try Havanna or some other communist place their goverments can't be any more restictive.
