I am interested in possibly purchasing a 308 or 328, but I have never sat in one or gone for a ride in one. I love the styling, but I want to make sure I like the ergonomics, sound, performance, and general experience before I really commit to the finding/inspecting/buying process.

My current car is a Superformance Cobra, which is beautiful to look and absurdly fast. I've had a lot of fun with it, but I think I am ready for something new. My better half would also prefer that our next car not be a convertible, and is supportive of choosing a Ferrari. We both like them and have been checking them out a shows for 10 years or so. I have no illusions that the 308 is a fast car (at least not compared to the Cobra) and I think I am OK with that, but at the same time I don't want to buy one and then be disappointed. In order for me to get something new, the Cobra has to go. I know I'm going to have a hard time letting go of her, so I want to be really sure of what I want before I take that plunge.

So, if any generous 308 or 328 owners in the Philly area would be willing to take me for a spin so I can see what a Ferrari is really like I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Zach, sorry I live nowhere near Philly, but I've got some experience with wives, Cobras, and 308s.

My dad and I built a FFR Cobra about 10 years ago. Neither my mom nor my wife like riding in it at all....seems like the gas pedal is hooked straight up to noise. It sure is fun though. We built a Ford GT40 after that, seemed like the top and AC would be more suitable to women riding in there. We had visions of taking road trips in it, crazy. They don't like that one either. In fact, they hate riding in the GT40 even more than the Cobra. Again, too uncomfortable, too loud, too scary, too much smelling like gasoline. I bet combined between both cars, my wife and my mom, they've ridden in those cars combined less than five times. It's a real ordeal to get them to agree, and even then they don't enjoy it at all. Usually when we go to shows my dad and I drive them alone and they follow in the BMW.

My wife loves 308s. Comfortable seats, AC, a top, reasonable sound level. She's happy so I'm happy too. It might help that her first experience with 308s was the day we got engaged when I rented one...

I'd say find one for sale close to you and go drive it. Take your wife and let her try it out as well. It's VERY different from the Cobra experience, but I'll be extremely surprised if you try it and don't love it.

    Good luck,
    Jason

Post your request in the midatlantic section. We have a regular group that meets up every weekend in West Chester and there are usually a few 308/328s on hand. I am sure one of the guys would be more than happy to take you out.
