In the past I had issues with my idle air control valves. When preparing to stop, by pushing in the clutch and coming off the gas, the engine would drop well below idle (1000 RPM) and stall. At first I cleaned the valves out, but eventually I replaced them and the problem disappeared. However, the problem has started again and I suspect it is caused by the contacts on the IACV connectors.

Over the last few days I tried contact cleaner with limited results. I tried another cleaning last night and let the car sit all night with the negative terminal of the battery disconnected. This morning I reset the ECU by reconnecting the battery and letting the car go through its learning mode until the fans came on (12 minutes). On my first drive it had the same issues when I came off the gas too fast from a medium engine speed (3K RPM). Back at the ranch, I played with the connectors a bit and tried again. Much better this time as it didn't stall once.

It seems contact cleaner is not doing the job. Maybe the connector force has backed off. I might try a fiberglass pen to clean the contacts, but that won't solve any force issues. I need the car for our big FCA event this weekend so I don't have time to rebuild the connectors. Maybe that is the only solution, but I throwing this out to see if anyone has a better idea to get me through the next few days.

    Thanks!

You really need to identify if you are getting too much fuel or air.

A leak after the air control valve will cause this to happen. Check the intake system for any obvious leaks.

You can use a pin to bend the tabs a bit closer together within the plug.

I assume you know the rest of the system is working ie all cylinders are getting spark and all cylinders are getting fuel??

How long and how many drives after replacing iacv did the car run perfect or has it been a problem just not as bad as now?

Did you clean the MAF as well? Can cause similar problems with the idle (mixture).

You may want to check short term fuel trim numbers. IIRC, a high positive number (lean) may indicate unmetered air or vac leak somewhere.
