Which GTO is the Ian Bamsey book, Ferrari GTO: The Classical Experience about, 250 or 288? Also is it worth buying? Just got a 250 GTO book called The Classic Experience, but that's by Alan Lis. Is it the same book? Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Hi Steve
The two books are about the 250GTO, but are not the same. The Bluemel/Pourret book is very good, but I believe it is expensive these days. A good alternative IMHO is Ferrari 250GTO by Anthony Pritchard. Product: Ferrari 250 GTO

Thanks for your reply, Nathan. Picked up your Dino and Daytona Super Profile books recently as well as the Boxer book. Very informative and enjoyable!!!

Just been looking at the credits on the Alan Lis 250 GTO book and Ian Bamsey is the Editorial Director. There seems to be lots of pictures on the net of the cover of the Alan Lis 250 GTO book but not the Ian Bamsey 250 GTO book. If you google the Ian Bamsey 250 GTO book, pictures of the Alan Lis book come up. Their titles are very similar too, The Classic Experience and The Classical Experience and both published in 1991.

Paul Harris (thepinkumbrella) very kindly loaned me the Bluemel/Pourret and the Anthony Pritchard 250 GTO books. The former is good. I'm up to around page 90 of the Pritchard book and it's very comprehensive though there are a few mistakes which I was quite surprised by such as saying that the first 250 GT SWB cars had drum brakes and also that the first steel SWBs were ventless. Although I haven't finished it yet, I'd say it's a good book on the whole and well worth the money it can be bought for. Just looking to buy the Bluemel/Pourret book at a reasonable price now, if I can find one.

After a few PMs between Steve and myself we have worked out that I was having a senior moment. There isn't a book by Ian Bamsey about the 250GTO. Steve was given wrong information and I didn't read his post properly - doh!
