I have never been a book collector except some 19th century Russian Bibles I bought in Moscow 1992 pennies on the dollar. I am interested in some Ian Fleming 1st Editions? Who would you recommend I work with?
Raptis Rare Books, I have purchased several rare 1st edition books from him, top quality and exceptional service!!! I can't say enough positive things! They are in the heart of Palm Beach on Worth Ave. https://www.raptisrarebooks.com/
Thanks guys. This thread and subsequent peek at the Raptis website reminded me of having bought a set of first edition Bonds 20-30 years ago at a yard sale and just stashed them away (had read all as a teenager, then again in my late-20s/early-30s and obviously seen all the movies more than once). While I don't recall any being signed, they do have dust covers and are in fairly good condition, so might be worth a few bucks ?
I'm seeing a wide variety in first edition prices, I don't understand the market enough why they vary so much. It might be similar to baseball cards on condition where a Jordan RC 10 could be 7-digits and a rough one $1k. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't get it either, but like my vintage cars, which I've always bought and own or have owned merely for personal enjoyment & pleasure, not for market speculation, although most I've sold for much more than I paid for. And yes, some of these (asking) prices appear eyes watering, kind of like some OEM vintage car literature and parts I came across few years ago and tried to find the car they belonged to so I could give them to current owner. After an extensive, months long search with no avail, I gave up & listed them on eBay, only to sell them for more ten times I thought they might be worth before the auction ended. Maybe with these Bond books, I have a small treasure stashed away ?
