I tend to agree with you.

Im convinced Iceman is legit and owns those cars. But he deserves no special treatment because of that. If you start a thread about your 2008 Enzo prepare to be GRILLED and accept that not everyone is going to believe you.

Iceman likes to brag...hes constantly talking about his 'insider info'. Thats cool...I read it and appreciate it..but he also gets attitude pretty fast when anyone doubts him.

Fact is we get people here everyday claiming to have cars they dont and not everyone is active enough to know who Iceman is and that he is legit...so when members doubt him its expected. And he should have patience with it and not get all indignate about it.

And yeah the nut fondlers are ridiculous.

I hate these threads but in fairness icemanbops has previously posted pictures of his cars and any info he has (like the info he posted before the cali came out) always turned out to be right. When he made the thread saying he got another Enzo and Veyron I believed him becuase you just have to look at his previous posts to realise that he is not some 14 year old kid coming on here and saying he has all these cars.

People that jumped and said "I'm not believing a word you say unless I see pictures" pretty much ruined it because icemanbops was just telling everyone becuase he THOUGHT we would be happy to hear that a fellow f-chatter got another Enzo and he could give us insight and comparisons and answer our questions. The hostility is what annoyed him - I'm guessing he's in his late 30's, early 40's and he has business' to run and money to make. He comes here occasionally just to talk about cars and answer our questions but I guess he want anymore because he has better things to do.

Can't really blame him, I'm not going to be crying myself to sleep because he doesn't post here anymore but it's pretty lame that a couple of f-chatters that contribute nothing to the forum showed hostility and negativity to someone who has continually posted information/pictures/insight and contributed a considerable amount in so few posts.

And why was this thread started by the way? Ferrari freak do you think that when you stop posting here we are going to have a day of mourning with an unneccesary thread that drags on and on? Think before you post next time, yeah?

My 2 cents, as somebody who tried a bit of mediation when things started getting strange on the 2008 Enzo thread:

Mike (or similar peoples point of view): They have the cars, the know they have it, they come here to share the experience. Some poeple think they are showing off etc, but there is a fine line between the perception of showing off and telling it as it is. If I have 3 enzos and two veyrons, and I share this info, some might think im showing off, others might think im sharing, so its swings and roundabouts. As per money, well damn, you need to have it to get to this amount of ownership and purchase ability, so its a given. As per "insider information", wealth and activity in any field brings its own connections naturally, and upto now no one proved that the 2008 enzo was a fake etc. so he seemed to have the connections needed to pull it off. Also with his pre public knowledge of California information, as mentioned by others above.
He did fly his mechanic abroad to check out and buy his second Enzo as proven by another member here who was thinking about the same car, so he managed that too.
The point is someone in the position of Mike and similar, who take the time to share here, DONT FEEL like they need or HAVE to PROVE anything. i can totally understand this. Their reality is as they say it is, and why should they be forced to prove this to anyone? Thats like us asking the queen: " oh yeah, so take a picture of yourself wearing your full state regalia and wearing the crown, with scepter in hand and holding todays news paper in hand, with the deeds of buckingham palace in your teeth, and your family tree certificate stuck to your forhead, so I can be sure you are the queen!"
I know we are talking about annonymous postings on the internet, so anyone could come here and say "hello, im the queen!", but how far do we want to take this proof thing?
A degree of sceptiscism is natural of course, due to the fantasist etc who popup here, however pushed to the extreme, it can degrade into school playground game of "so prove it!" And ******* it, if I were in the position of these people I would leave too. It seems to me I would be "showing off" more when I have to take pictures of titles etc, than when I am just talking about my cars.

My (as a fan) point of view: We have lost a good member and resource here. He was a bit oversensitive in my opinion (I thought he would get offended too easily, and I tried to point this out in my post on the 2008 Enzo thread), but given the facts i mentioned above i can understand why. He had a lot to contribute simply from his situation. He is gone, and his life is still the same, and will prob get even better, car wise. Our life here on Fchat (as enthusiasts) is poorer due to him missing. Its always so easy to take cheap shots; just look at some of the stigma atatched to Ferrari ownership of anykind! Even more, I am sure even someone like Napolis (a true enthusiast if there ever was one), has tittle tattle following him as well, eg " oh, a normal 1 million dollar ferrari wasnt enough for him, so he had to go and spend 4 million dollars more to show how much money he has, what a showoff!" Its that easy and unimaginative to be b i t c h y, its not clever or sophisticted, but its that easy... Imagine if talk like that had driven Napolis away also, and how much of his contribution we would have lost. I am not saying Napolis and iceman have the same temprament, BUT then again, everyone is different, with their own character. Its also very easy to call anyone who shows any appreciation, or engages in dialougue as nutfondlers, sack kissers (!) etc, but thats like a high school popularity game, as in "ooh dont ask teacher a question, cuz you will be a nutfondler teachers pet and we wont like you anymore.." yeah cool, so lets all of us be the hip clique, who are dumb and uneducated, but hey at least we are the cool kids who know how to make fun of the nerds, our life is the greatest....
Anyway, its a shame to see such adolescent behaviour sometimes, especially since we are all here due to one reason, our shared passion for cars.

EDIT: modena, you posted while I was typing. We seem to be on the same wave length here. However you mentioned something very true, and that was the hostility. Spot on. Its the hostility thats the hardest to take, and from the point of view of iceman etc, it seems that the one place he thought he wouldnt get hostility would be the ferrari forum, but we he was proven wrong...

    So much drama, jesus.

Nut nuzzling is gay. So is being obnoxious. So is being oversensitive. So is showing off.

Iceman bops told you the 2008 Enzo was a better drive, but didn't go into details. He also told you all the cars he had. I think this contribution rates as close to zero. Then he became hypersensitive. Look, anyone with the money can buy the cars and post about the fact he has bought them. That's not contributing. LVEric was the same. Basically, huge show offs. And pointlessly oversensitive. We are not any poorer off because they don't post or because we don't see pics of a new model a few weeks early.

SRT Mike's post, while containing some truths, is also obnoxious. Now everybody has to have SRT Mike's approval or they go from being fans/admirers to nut-nuzzlers? Really? Your posts have to meet his approval to be part the "in" clique? Please. Younger kids should contain their enthusiasm more and be jaded and withering like middle-aged pretending-to-be-politically-correct-while-showing-zero-tact-insecure-white guys or they are sycophants?

I pissed on a grille and I think I liked it.

You seem to be forgetting a couple things.

Not everyone on this forum comes often enough to know that Iceman has previously posted confirmation pics or that he is known by other legit forum members. For many members this could be the first time they have heard of Iceman and his collection are are justifiably skeptical and thus you have to prove yourself over and over. Thats life.

FerrariChat is also open to people of all ages (that includes teenagers that are here just to bust everyones balls ). You are always going to have kids and troublemakers...ALWAYS. It doesnt mater if you post the pic of you next to your Enzo or not...there will ALWAYS be a few on a PUBLIC forum that are going to give you grief.

If Iceman, and others REALLY want to eliminate the riff raff just subscribe and post in those sections like the rest of us do.

Touched a nerve, to be straight up i dont give a flying f*ck. I asked you how you can call me a nut-swinger, you didnt answer. Refer to my post you quoted, aint no nut-swinging there boyo so sit down, shut your gob and I'll teach you a lesson. You cant call people things on the web without justification or any proof. If you do, you are extremely immature and a true fool. You dont even know me and you call me a nut-swinger, you are a complete fool.

If you are trying to wind me up, go ahead and see what happens however being a long standing member I would have thought better of you. You know this board, dont be a fool.

LOL actually you can call anybody anything on the web without a shred of proof. Really now, what can you do about it.

I have no idea what this thread is about I just happened to read your post and had a laugh. Here's to closing this destructive thread.

Obviously you can but you dont display a shred of decency in doing so, especially when you post on the site daily and have done for years.

I agree about closing the thread by the way, pointless now and as per, way off topic.

As for what i can do, well i can open a can of me finest WHOOPASS!! :D

Ok, keep your whoopass in the can 'cause we don't need any. This is going nowhere and no longer has anything to do with "Super Ferraris" so - thread closed.
