A little off topic, but after reading about RIR history, here is an old photo I found......Richie Ginther talking with Rudy Cleye by Edgars 410S 9/21/57.... PS Isn't that Jim Hall? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the interesting pix. Not 1957 and Edgar's 410S but rather Riverside in October 1959 and 412Mi 0744 then belonging to (and driven by) Fred Knoop. Maybe it's Knoop, Ginther is talking to. Not Jim Hall, I think.
I think the same date because watching these links: - Program Cover : http://www.fototime.com/0BBF8B866AE3DF7/orig.jpg - The Entry list with the "Fred Knoop's" Ferrari : http://www.fototime.com/D77978CB6A76D76/orig.jpg It's a rare race where it refers this number.
Sure looks like Cleye in the striped shirt, and John von Neuman looking off to the right in the white shirt. Definitely 0744, my favorite Ferrari of them all, and I was lucky enough to have a ride in it once.
First off, thank you for THREAD of the Month, being my first post. What's next? The chrome Ferrari emblems on each side seem to be very rare. More input needed. I believe the XK120 WS and the tail lights were installed in Italy before shipped to me in mid 1957. We still have a number of unanswered questions the least of which is.....Where is this gal today? What SN? Sorry about getting sidetracked with the Riverside picture but I was there and after reading all the RIR history I got carried away..........George Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ed, That must one of the few that passed through LA that you didn't own at least once! By the way what was the s/n of the 225 you had that Bill Rudd used in his ad from the late 70's? I was with Larry Crane when he did the photo. Jeff Kennedy
Do you know these are worth many thousands of dollars, will you put tem on ebay to give everyone a fair chance?

OK George, let's go back to the main subject! I do believe it's 0118 which Fabrizio Violati bought from Lincoln Cabraloff around 1989 and sold via Symbolic in the late 90s but to whom ? The chrome emblem may be rare but I doubt very much it can be an original feature. Best wishes.
I agree, this is a great thread and having been away for a few days I gather the mystery is still a mystery. Let's find out from George what college he was interested in. Could it be the same one in the R&T ad posted by Miltonian on page 2 which has been identified as 0084. In my earlier post I suggested looking at 0084 and the Barchetta mention of the two lights at the base of the trunk lid. I have printed out and researched hundreds of these Barchetta histories for Ferraris up to the mid 1960s and for the most part they are correct. Yes I know there are some major errors but it is about time someone gave credit to Barchetta for all their work which we all refer to. Aparently George now thinks 0124 is not the car so lets look at 0084 and see what we can come up with. I will post what I find shortly. tongascrew
I was attending Whittier College when I imported the mystery Ferrari mid 1957. I believe 0084 was another color at this time and not the car in question. I would like to find more info. on 0118 when Cabraloff owned it and before. Such a mystery??? George
Hello again George. This thread continues to keep me glued to fchat. Since we are on the topic of College and cars. You may as well post in the "what you drove in college" thread. You now won thread of the month and possibly coolest car driven in college! You sir, are on a roll! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180322 Are you graced by the presence of any Ferrari's today? You mentionned other cars you had...have you located those (not to jump the gun...one mystery at a time) Vasco
