Just a rough guide before I start getting prices in from my two local specialists please, if anyone has had one replaced recently.

It has just started to slip when making serious progress into 4th and 5th.

Not unexpected as it was the one thing that the pre-delivery inspection flagged up as a possible in a few thousand miles... and seeing as I've done 4k in the last 8 weeks, three of those caning it around Europe and the Alps.... can't complain too much!

    Ta :D

Clutch not lasted a long time.

My 348 spyder has done nearly 35,000 miles and its still on the same original Clutch. No wear issues at all.

I have been told clutches do not last that long.

The 348 Spyder is a single plate clutch they cost around £450 to £500 inc VAT.

Fitting £50.00. Very easy to fit. Not labour intensive (2 hour job).

I didn't think 11 years and 25k was bad, especially after the hammer it took a few weeks ago!

Just waiting for a price from Strasse and R7D Automotive now.

    Al,
Make sure you get the flywheel "Regreased" whilst the clutch is out. This is SPECIAL grease is made by a company called "KLUBER" and is specific to dual mass flywheels.
It's not essential that this is done, but after the recent use it's had, I would definately insist on getting it done. (It makes the clutch take up a lot smoother) If your "specialists" are scratching their heads where to get it from (Ferrari sell it tubs around £100 a time) then I've got some (unused) jars you can have.

    Leyton.

    Thanks Leyton.

Do you happen to know if it's a single or twin plate clutch? Apparently there's £400 difference between the two!

    Al,

The 348 spider are single plate. Mush better then the double plates which are on TB, TS models.

Thanks Justin - that makes it £470 instead of £815!

Steve - I still need to get comparison prices in. As it happens, Strasse are the same prices parts wise but more competitive on labour time, so that's where it will be going.

If they can get any of this Kluber gunge wotnot that is :D

    AL,

I found FerrariUK cheapest for parts. - cheaper that eurospares but this was the dual plate version

Did my complete 348 clutch & flywheel grease etc this summer.

Suggest you follow the current thread in the Vintage section - a guy there is just about to do his.

A complete rebuild of the flywheel will get expensive if you go to a dealer, but if there is no oil/fluid leaks past the triple shaft seals/throw bearing I would not bother.

Also ensure they change the triple drive shaft seals. They are cheap and easy to replace once the clutch pack is out.

    If you need more detail let me know.;

    Cheers

    John

Have just spoken to Dave at Strasse. He knows about greasing the fly wheel and is just working out the additional cost. The triple drive shaft seals are done automatically.

Cheers for all the guidance so far.
