I found very little using search on this.

I have a reddish liquid (which I believe is coolant) leaking sometimes toward the front of the engine and down through the louvered tray under the car.
I removed the tray and have looked all over the coolant system. There is slight evident that liquid may have been in the vee of the engine.

I ran it idling in the air for several minutes while I wheeled all over the engine underneath and climbed on top and it did not leak. At that point I thought about brake/clutch fluid.

Then the next week the temperature dropped below 50F and it leaked sitting in the garage (although I'm not sure it's temperature related). I still cannot find evidence of the leak. I do know the engine bay is tight up front!

It usually leaks a few ounces at a time so it's not a small leak. I just measured the coolant level as a benchmark, took a short drive with no leak found. I will check the level later this week.

Here's the odd thing, there is no evidence of coolant in the exhaust or otherwise. And it pulls like a freight train. Everything function and I wasn't easy on it.

I thought I'd put this out there because I'm new to this car and sometimes there are quarks that people instantly know about.

So thanks to any ideas you may have.

    Is your coolant red?

    Two ideas, one suggestion.

Idea 1: your water pump is leaking.
idea 2: the bleed hose to the coolant tank in the engine V is leaking. Well known problem.

Suggestion: get a coolant tank pressure tester from Napa or something equivalent. $100, but worth it. You can pressurize the system without running the engine (which makes it hot). This will get your leak to show itself right away.

I have a 355 that had a very similar issue, leaked about the same place as yours. I determined it was coolant although I never figured out where it was coming from. I'm performing a 30k mile service now along with replacing the coolant hoses using SRI silicone ones. Plus having the water pump bearing and seals replaced, hopefully this fixes my leak.

Hope you find the problem and get it fixed, I know how frustrating it can be.

I would vote for the small ( 3/4"OD or so) coolant line underneath the intake. That is a very common leak area. It is also difficult to get to, but you can access it by removing the air filter box and oil filter. Also removing the 2 brackets that hold the wiring harness on each side make it easier. Many times the fittting the hose mounts onto is eaten up with corrosion and needs replacement. In this case you will have to remove the intake runners and get the replacement nipple from Ricambi. Mine didn't leak, but when I did my 30K last year I changed that hose and I am glad I did as the hose was about to leak and the fitting was corroded.

Yup. I have to agree. Check this hose if its leaking or not. Mine was not leaking as well but I also had a bad hose and fitting corrosion.

Great feedback. Busy week so it'll be this weekend before I can look into a few of this leak points starting with the coolant line in the vee. That would be great if that's all it is.

My coolant is red. And the idea of a pressure tester is great.

Thanks everyone - this has definitely given me some enthusiasm.
I haven't even registered it yet. Although it did pass emissions testing just fine.
