Hello, I've owned my 2004 612 F1A for about 18 months now and for the most part is has behaved itself (barring a battery earthing issue that took ages to diagnose but was fixed with a $50 spot weld...) However, I'm conscious of needing a new wiper motor at some stage, and possibly a new power steering pump. Also, the interior switches are holding up OK but I've had to perform some minor surgery on a couple of them. I replaced the wing mirror switch with one from a quatroporte, and understand that the wiper motor is also shared with a QP...

This set me thinking, is there any definitive source of what parts are shared with the 612 from across the Fiat range (or beyond)? - clearly not talking major components here, but ancillary pieces and the like. Any thoughts or ideas most welcome, as it could save a fortune on what are becoming rather scarce components in some cases. Many thanks!

As your 612's and 599's are coming up in age, you may want to start an "Interchangeable Parts" thread, as we've done for the 456/550/575M models. It's been a very good resource for DIY'ers and pro's alike. Basically whenever you find a part that is truly interchangeable, you post the Ferrari P/N, as well as the Bosch/Fiat/BMW etc. P/N. It's not meant to be a discussion thread, just an interchangeability parts thread.

Also keep in mind that many parts used in Ferraris of that era (and to a certain extent even more modern ones) often carry the part # belonging to the original part manufacturer.

Thus, for instance, should you remove the wiper motor look for a sequence of digits (other than the Ferrari part #) that identify that part as a Bosch or Beru or... Once you have located the original manufacturer part number then a simple Google search will help you find the non-Ferrari equivalent part at a fraction of the price.

An update from me - my 612 wiper motor stopped , researched replacements (oem new £2500) , then on this forum had a suggestion that similarly aged Maserati’s had same motor @ £1,000, even heard that a Mazda had the same motor. I declined all options after finding a firm in south london - Robson & Francis motor rewinds. £300 later my original part repaired and working again!
