Only in hot weather, the engine idles stays above 2100 RPM and when coming to a stop, the F1 transmission wants to move the car forward even with the brake on..on the highway, it acts like a cruse control!

. anyway the problem is that only does this in hot weather (80 degrees or above) never a problem at lower temps... the question is why the high rpm in warmer weather.. and no problem in cooler weather..

Is the A/C on when the idle is high?

I would try resetting the ecu, I have noticed that can reset the idle

That is high...mine was typically around 1150 or so. There is a water temp sensor which controls idle, that may be malfunctioning (mine did too). Can you connect to an OBDII reader to look for codes?

I'm confused about what your F1 is doing - is it creeping while the brake is on? Or just when you take your foot off the brake? The clutch should be disengaged even if you're in first gear, until you step on the gas. And what's this about cruise control on the highway? Is it not letting you get up to speed?

This sounds like a dumb suggestion, but I had this same problem for about a week until I realized the floor mat had gotten loose and was putting a little bit of pressure on the throttle causing a high idle and the car to try to move forward when my brakes were applied.

Check that your floor mat isn't pressing on the gas pedal.

it acts like cruise control in that the Idle will not go down to the normal level and when in 5th gear on the highway, I can practically take my foot off the gas and it will maintain highway speeds... the transmission stays in gear and tries to creep forward at stop... the air conditioner was on the whole time, but we were up in Sonoma and the temperature was about 87 degrees when the problem occured... when back in San Francisco where the temperature was in the 60s, it worked perfectly... on the same trip, the same day! ... and the floor mat was not causing the problem....

Are you 100% sure it's not the floor mat? Have you double checked the car? Because it sounds exactly like it is......

I checked the carpet mat and it did not appear to be interferring with the pedal... The only time this has happened it extremely warm temperatures in Monterey at Vintage Races last August and on Sunday in Sonoma.. both times it was over 85 degrees and both times it had an exteemely high idle that would not go down to normal levels.... by the way the water temp guage was showing a bit left of center, so pretty normal operating engine operating temperature... Thanks for your ideas.... we will figure this out yet??

I'd spray some WD-40 on your throttle cable in the engine compartment and under your gas pedal. A sticking throttle cable could act a bit like you describe, as well.
