What are you talking about? Did you just purchase an opener?

I'm thinking of putting a lift in and would have clearence issues with the Chamberlin I have now. I'd still have to raise the rails for the door. Interesting thing is over in the UK they have nice rollup doors that roll up on top of the door. They don't have rails. I haven't found anything like this in the US.

Here are some links that may be of interest to you with regard to roll-up doors. Good luck with your quest. I have not researched the products listed below and can not vouch for them. I just found these links with regard to a project I was thinking about. (P.S. make sure that whatever you get is installed by a professional as this is the largest and heaviest moving object in your home and it operates over your head. In addition, if you don't know what you are doing and are messing around with the high tension springs and you screw up they can take off a part of your anatomy. As roll-up doors are usually used in commercial applications they may not come with all of the child safety devices and other entrapment devices which are standard with door systems designed for residential settings. I am a personal injury attorney and have seen some horrific injuries caused by improperly installed overhead doors and door openers. Be careful.)

My brother-in-law just installed one of these on his door about 2 months ago.

The difference between this and the "regular" track/cable/chain/screw type openers are like night and day. The IDrive is whisper quiet and fast. No track needed on the ceiling, no frame needed to mount it - the above head clearance is of course much better without having all of that stuff hanging there.

I'd never use a normal opener again.

I have two lift master belt drives. There were $450 each installed and are whisper quite. They do have a rail and mount like a traditional opener.

Actually that's what I have......... Liftmaster belt drives. They are pretty quiet and I've never had a problem. Except they will need (prob.) a min. of 1' and that is room I want for the car when on the lift....
