The deal is what you pay when the auction is over. Already 10 bids, still over 6 days to go........

You're allright, but i don't think that the bids will get the price of the model car in any shop. Remember that these cars are selling around 500-530$. I bought mine two weeks ago in an italian shop for 330€ (around 400$), and it was the cheapest price i saw.... I was so lucky...

If you add $ 30 for shipping and $ 30 for bank transfer to pay for it, the deal isn't that great anymore. Aside from the several risks associated with the deal.

What's really annoying is, that the European ebay folks don't use paypal. A wire transfer from the US costs about $30 and has a great chance of never getting there. I know because I've been many times in that painful situation.

I could live with paying the UPS/FEDEX fee and the risks, but not being able to pay internationally is a real bummer.

OK, Andreas, you're allright too. I didn't know that you've to pay this much to get an item from Europe. But i still think that it's a good deal... for an european collector.

For a European it is, no doubt.

I only go the European ebay route if it is for a car you can't get in the US. I ended up paying about $ 300 for the 1/18 Ferrari F1 C126, but it is pretty much unique in the world.

I agree with you Andreas. I don't know what would i do without the german ebay, because the spanish Ferrari model cars section smells. And the shops in Spain are so expensive too. Sometimes, it's cheaper getting a model from Italy with shipping to my door, than buying in a spanish shop...
I saw the C126 that you get in an old thread, and what can i say... i want one!!!

Interesting comments on the Spanish shops. Actually I made it a point to visit a Spanish model car shop while in Barcelona a few months ago. At least you have a selection there!

Exoto is planning on coming out with their version of the C126. It will undoubtedly be better than my version, but like with all things from Exoto, it can take ages until it finally is available. I'm still waiting on models they have announced years ago. The C126 I think was announced just this year. So make that available by 2008...
